Highlights

It’s Entertaining Throughout

From betrayals, the fight scene which starts the movie, and wondering who might be a demon, angel, or caught in some sort of limbo like Sam, while you won’t be on your toes, you will find yourself entertained throughout. Meyers makes a good lead and compensates for what little character development you’re given and average performances. Also, the ending is satisfying in ways you may not have expected.

On The Fence

The Character Development Sticks To Basics

The amount of information you get in the character description above is how much information is given in the film. You get to know why everyone ended up in limbo, and that’s it. As for who they were and things of that nature, the movie has no interest in that. Heck, even with Sam being the lead character, the only thing, in addition, we learn about him is that he has a wife in Sarah, he works a lot to get a tech company off the ground, and he will soon be a father.

There is also a moment it is revealed he might be a womanizer, but we don’t get a scene to confirm this. This is just said off-hand once, and considering how Sam interacts with women in the film, you may question whether this is true. But, as shown by that throwaway tidbit, it’s clear that going deep and building up any character, even the lead, isn’t a priority. It’s all about survival and those who could impede that.
