Plot Summary

It is one heck of a Christmas Eve for Rashaad and Nia. For Nia, anything and everything that could go wrong, from her car breaking down to being late to drop Imani off at church for an event and the food she has for her various catering jobs being in said broken down car. Rashaad? The day isn’t going well for him either since he has a meeting with his ex, Gabrielle, and is trying to book a long-term job with the mayor, and be it the work of Bryce and Imani or fate; he finds himself tangled in Nia’s life from switching phones and more.

Which, considering how much is riding on Christmas Eve going well, since it will determine what happens in the coming year, Nia and Rashaad find themselves forced to work together to get their to-do list done.

Audience

“The Day Before Christmas” is made for those who like corny romance movies that take place around the holidays.

Highlights

It’s Corny, In A Good Way

“The Day Before Christmas” is holiday movie corny. There is a meet-cute, kids meddling to the point you think they are trying to set their parents up, and hijinks. But as corny as it might be to watch Rashaad and Nia pretend they don’t have an instant connection, you find yourself taking note that both are just getting out of long-term relationships. From what it seems, both have been single, maybe, for a year, and the exes they have to have been with for nearly a decade, considering Imani and Bryce’s age. Throw in Nia is only single because her ex died, and it makes the awkwardness acceptable.

Also, unlike most holiday movies we’ve seen, with no murkiness between what could be their next relationship and what was their last, no matter how corny things get, you are more likely to smile and roll your eyes than criticize. Then, considering the role the kids play, I’d even say you will appreciate them helping their parents, as they seemingly push them together, for it makes the idea of these four becoming a blended family something you want.
