Film Summary
With Sam and Nikki being seniors and Sam off to college in 5 months, it makes the two days they’ll have alone in Sam’s house seem like bliss. However, Nikki’s older sister Ty arrives and ruins Nikki crafting a beautiful memory with her girlfriend.

Highlights
It’s More Than The Queer Version Of Something You’ve Seen Before
Unfortunately, many movies, shows, and shorts often feel like they are remixed versions of something else. Whether it is the Black version of Steel Magnolias, the all-female version of Ghostbusters, and so on. Heart Shot doesn’t feel like it is a direct or even inspired by short based on anything you have seen.
Rather, with establishing this cute couple and Nikki having a gun, you are just led to think maybe Nikki is from a bad neighborhood and her mother may not know or support her sexuality, so things are rough. Be it her living out in the streets or who knows what. Thus making these two days heaven since she can be in Sam’s arms, playhouse, and feel safe.
However, Ty introduces herself and with Nikki revealing why she has a gun and all that happens? You’ll be questioning when are we getting the full story because this little teaser isn’t enough.

Our Rating: Positive (Worth Seeing) – Recommended
I want all the details. It’s on Netflix’s platform, so I’m assuming they have some kind of faith in this, so I fully expect people to check this out and read on Deadline or through Google Discover this is getting a limited series or movie. For I refuse to believe this is going to end up like so many shorts where it shows what the writer, director, and actors are capable of, and the story just ends on this ellipsis. And it is because of the adrenaline this short left me with that it is being recommended.
