Starring Sasha Pieterse of “Pretty Little Liars” fame, in this digital release, we watch as twin girls attracted to the same man create collateral damage in pursuit of that man.

Title Card, The Image Of You

Plot Summary

Twins Zoe and Anna have been close all their lives, to the point you could submit their mother Alexia is jealous of their relationship. But, the main jealousy between the girls usually comes from when a guy gets between them. Nick is the latest one, and while Anna is the one looking for love, with being her opposite, Zoe looks for lust. And as Nick quickly falls for Anna, Zoe does as she always does and tests Anna’s boyfriend.

Zoe

A model and actress, based on what Anna and Alexia say, while she is doing better now, Zoe has been troubled. From addictions and bad boyfriends, she has lived quite a life, and it has given her a bit of an edge. One that generally makes her quite prickly.

Anna

Of the twins, Anna is considered the sweetheart. She works at a local community center and is in love with the idea of love, but after turning 31, Zoe pushes the idea that she is over the hill. Which, with how sensitive Anna is, weighs on her heavily.

Highlights

Zoe

Zoe (Sasha Pieterse)

It’s hard to say whether it is the shock of hearing Pieterse be so vulgar or because Sivertson’s writing was able to bring something out of her that makes Zoe a highlight. However, there is no denying that how Pieterse delivers Zoe’s lines makes it so all eyes are on her, no matter who is sharing the scene with her.

I’d even say that despite the film setting up a sequel because of how allegedly unhinged Zoe was before she went to rehab, a prequel is presented as far more interesting.

On The Fence

You Likely Won’t Buy Into the Romance

Nick and Anna have a whirlwind romance. Anna is portrayed as sweet, even caring for Nick’s sickly mother, but Zoe makes this a love triangle. One that quickly takes you away from wanting to invest in Anna and Nick’s love story, for you want to see Zoe be this messy woman everyone claims she is.

And with Zoe living up to her reputation, all that is left when it comes to Anna is you wanting to see how she reacts. Will she flip out, reveal she knew, share Nick, or what?

The Ending

Nick (Parker Young)

A part of me appreciates how “The Image of You” ends, for it is unexpected. However, multiple issues arise from how the film ends. First and foremost, the film’s ending leaves “The Image of You” incomplete and creates the need for a sequel to finish the story. Following that, while the film would need a sequel to finish the story, there is a need to question what the hook is supposed to be?

Without giving too much away, so much is revealed by the end of “The Image of You” that it is hard to imagine the way forward. On top of that, it is hard to imagine the characters who survive the ending being able to hold down another 90 minutes. So you’re left with a story that is incomplete, with very little left going forward to make you clamor for more.
