Plot Overview

In a world ruled by religious figures, there is a war between them and the noble class. Said war has led to many people from our world being drawn in since each one has a special power that can be used to fight the religious class known as the Faust. The latest person is Mitsuki, whose nullify powers are especially dangerous. But, with him being abandoned by the noble class, he lucks upon meeting Menou.

At least, it initially seemed that way until Menou killed him. You see, Menou, following the footsteps of her master Flare, is an executioner for the Faust, who kills the other worlders (aka Lost Ones) – with the assistance of her aide Momo. And it seems as the noble class illegally summons more and more, even the Archbishop Orwell finds themselves having to get involved and check-in. Hence why Flare even had to take on Menou as a protégé after Menou’s home was destroyed by a Lost One who didn’t have control of their powers.

Things To Note

  • Content Advisory: Violence (Blood, violence against juveniles), Sexual Content (Minor ecchi moments)

Question(s) Left Unanswered

  1. So have all Lost Ones been summoned and, if so, who did the first summon and why?
  2. What led to the formation of this caste system with religious figures on top?
  3. Can someone easily become part of the Faust, like becoming a nun or priest, or do you have to be born into it, like nobility, or be at the right place at the wrong time like Menou?
  4. In the end credits, we see Menou dead – who killed her?

What Could Happen Next

  1. We see the war between King Grisarika’s people and the Faust
  2. We learn the Archbishop is the reason Lost Ones began coming to their world

Highlights

World Building

Archbishop Orwell (Tamie Kubota) telling Menou she should take a vacation after this fight.
Archbishop Orwell (Tamie Kubota)

From the Lost Ones influencing their new world’s culture and technology, establishing the caste system, ether (aka magic), and the pending war between the top two classes, a decent amount of world-building was made in the first episode. Not enough to be overwhelmed, but just enough to establish what’s going on, with who, and the idea of where it is going.

Killing Off Who You Think Could Be The Lead

Mitsuki is the hero we’re so used to seeing in shows like this, and seeing him killed off just as he discovers his power and not coming back to life? That was a good twist! It shook things up and made it, so you are forced to realize that this isn’t going to be some kind of redemption show for a guy who saw himself as a loser. Rather, this is about revenge and creating a balance, partly through Menou committing genocide against foreign invaders.

Initial Impression

Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road starts off with a nice twist and decent world-building. But now the question comes, with shaking things up with the unexpected, can it build off that momentum and become something great? For we see a few one-sided fights that are violent, but only because of blood splatter. So there is fear that the twist could be the high point, and it could be all downhill from here.

Who Is This For?
Isekai fans who have always found the person, usually a guy, annoying to the point they wished they got killed off and any of the supporting characters were actually the lead.
