The deeper down the rabbit hole we go the more interesting the story. Especially as it seems Alexander maybe very familiar with partaking in corruption of justice.
Episode Focus: The Man On The Motorcycle (Schneider, Charlie, Alexander, and Kato)
Despite Alexander’s best efforts, it seems whatever evidence he was trying to bury or throw people off with is being unveiled. Schneider is already on the hunt for the motorcyclist and has put out a public alert. Alexander, rather foolishly, reveals who is the man on the bike – Hannes Vanderkerk (Tom Jansen) [note] A Dutch importer of party goods, which I think was a euphemism for drugs. [/note].
Which, as you surely expected, leads to Kato looking for him and using Charlie. However, all that happens with Charlie is him getting socked by the leader that is in Ines’ drug ring. Though, with Kato getting a hold of the leader’s phone and getting Vanderkerk’s number, she goes to the station and tracks him. Thus leading to her meeting this man old enough to be her father who seemingly lives a white collar life.
Commentary
In this episode we learn Kato can get injured, leading to the question of can she die, again? For she has a confrontation with Alexander and ends up sliding on her leg from falling off her cycle. When she removes her pants we see a scrape and she feels the pain as Ines cleans it. Making you wonder, what realm is Kato in exactly where she has the ability to feel pain, can’t ghost through people and objects, yet can be seen by a limited amount of people. Which, I should note, we can add Vanderkerk to the list of people who can see her.
That thought aside, I wonder if Alexander may ever get caught for tampering with evidence and corruption? He, like the idiot he is, kept a copy of the video in which Kato was at the gas station, which Charlie finds. On top of that, in an effort to protect Melanie, who is waiting for the DNA results to return [note]Which, thanks to Schneider’s actions, will be delayed since the hotel is suing and rushed DNA results are expensive.[/note], he reveals the name of the last man he believes was with Kato. As if she really has much to lose when less than a dozen people seem capable of doing her harm. I mean, speaking from my point of view, I’m surprised with all the trouble she is causing, and how corrupt he already seems, he hasn’t seen if he can kill her. No one ones what she is or how she is moving about, so her disappearing suddenly wouldn’t be a surprise. There is no method for investigating the disappearance of a ghost. But, again, Alexander is an idiot who seems a little too much into his sister-in-law. Almost to the point, you have to wonder if maybe Leon is his son and not his dead brother’s.
Subplot 1: Drug Bust (Luc and Ines)
While Luc is still part of the motor club, he hasn’t let go what the douche who took that 2012 trophy, because he got DQ’d, likely did. And, all things considered, with that boy’s suddenly drug business, maybe he did steal the money. It is hard to say though for Luc tells the police on the boy and he, alongside Ines, get arrested. Making it where any money, or items, they seize, will be part of police custody. Thus clearing Luc’s name, to a point, but getting that money, and proving the boy stole it, will be a whole other issue.
Commentary
Being that Ines was Kato’s rock, and apparently little Cyril’s love interest, it is going to be interesting to see what happens with her gone. Charlie is a bit on the ropes when it comes to helping Kato figure out her murderer, so it isn’t clear if he can take up being a partner in crime and a real friend. Though, considering he doesn’t have much else going on in his life, what else does he have to do?
Subplot 2: Loving Someone Who Isn’t Yours (Sophia and Melanie)
Both Sophia and Melanie want someone they can’t have. Sophie is badly trying to get Leon, but because of her sister and a separate issue Leon is secretive about, he makes it seem that won’t happen. Then with Melanie, while we don’t see anything, Alexander’s wife does seem them quite cozy in the middle of the night. And, as we have seen, between his lies about being at work and hardly being home, he has spent an exuberant amount of time with Melanie. So, it should be interesting, as Alexander’s world comes apart, if his wife may add fuel to the fire.
Commentary
I’m just wondering if Alexander is as dumb as he seems to be or if he is just new to this corruption thing. For he is just making mistakes left and right and keeps getting caught red handed. His association with the hotel got him kicked off the case, Schneider has learned that Bart, who was fed information about Vanderkerk’s motorcycle, was wrong, and then there is Charlie having that video. This man with few allies is about to lose it all. Including his wife.
As for Leon and Sophia, I just want to know what Sophia doesn’t know. I was thinking it would likely deal with Sophia’s parents [note]Which leads to the thought: When did Kristel and Luc divorce because the age gap between Kato and Sophia isn’t big and it seems Marcus gets credit for being her dad. Is that because Luc usually was drinking or at the motor club, more than being a father, or is Marcus her biological dad? [/note] learning Melanie had something to do with Kato’s death. However, I think it is something else. Be it a family secret or something a bit weirder.
