Movie Summary
Jax is Shiloh’s little sister, and she is in mourning. But what doesn’t help is all of Shiloh’s fans from her social media accounts hitting her up, trying to buy Shiloh’s car, and extend their parasocial relationship to Jax. For the truth is, Jax and Shiloh had an immensely complicated relationship. Partly because of Becky but also just the general sense that Shiloh didn’t see Jax or appreciate her for who she is – she wanted her to be a version of her.
Enter Luce, one of Shiloh’s friends from college, who not only connects with Jax but convinces her to go to Thailand to do the next trip and stunt Shiloh was going to do. But take note: Luce and Jax don’t have Shiloh’s experience or fearlessness. So there comes the question, will these two amateurs end up in a similar situation to Shiloh – from the danger she was in to her fate at the end of the first Fall movie?

- Character Summary: Luce is a member of Shiloh and Becky’s friend group in college who comes by Jax’s house to offer her condolences and try to finish the mission Shiloh started of getting Jax out of her head, out of her safe space, and into the real world.

Every Time Luce Or Jax Looked Down, You Could Get Nauseous [83/100]
Like the first movie, Fall 2: Deadpoint will make you wish this was filmed in IMAX, screened in that format, or a Dolby theater. For as you see from Luce or Jax’s point of view, and they look far into the distance or down 4,000 feet, it instills a sense of both awe and fear. Which, honestly, feels like it isn’t done justice from watching a standard screening.

Jax and Luce Are Characters Reliant On Their Relationship With Shiloh and Their Circumstance [72/100]
One of the big issues with Fall 2: Deadpoint is that it believes putting new lead characters in a dangerous situation should bond you with them, as we bonded with Becky and Shiloh in the first film. But, unfortunately, that doesn’t really happen.
First off, Jax doesn’t break out of Shiloh’s shadow. The film’s flashbacks aren’t about building up Jax as an individual, but connecting her to Shiloh. Whether it is how Jax wasn’t the thrill-seeker Shiloh was, how complicated their relationship has been since they were children, or even Jax’s jealousy of Becky because of how much she drew Shiloh’s attention.
The film doesn’t develop Jax. This includes the one time Shiloh presents the idea Jax is afraid to take initiative in her life. Jax was perfectly set up to talk about herself, the life she is trying to build outside of being Shiloh’s little sister, and the film sidesteps that opportunity.
Then with Luce, she is an example of how, even if a character is happy, upbeat, and positive, that doesn’t mean their light will be attractive to you. Mind you, there is an effort to give Luce a life outside of Shiloh, even if Shiloh is someone who has had a strong effect on Luce. But nothing said or revealed leads to you having a specific attachment to Luce.
This makes it so, despite the life-or-death situations Luce and Jax find themselves in, your fear and the involuntary reactions you have while watching are rarely because of Luce and Jax. It is either about you imagining looking down towards certain death or, similar to a horror movie, your anticipation about something bad happening in general, rather than who it is happening to.

Our Rating (77/100): Mixed (Divisive)
Fall 2: Deadpoint maintains creating a fear of heights due to its cinematography. However, the effort to try to make a repeatable formula with brand new characters doesn’t work out. You still get scared because of the situation they’re in, but it feels like the star is the location, what could happen, what may lead to the characters dying, rather than the characters themselves. Thus leaving you in a constant state of waiting for something to happen, as we are teased over and over again, to the point you build enough of a tolerance to potentially not care.
