World Overview

  • Nevermore Academy (1.1): Found in 1791, the over 200-year-old academic institution has catered to what normies would consider freaks or outcasts. Some examples include werewolves (though some go by Lycans), vampires, sirens, gorgons, psychics, and more.
    • Alumni (Promotional Material): Edgar Allen Poe and Ignatius Itt (aka Cousin Itt)
    • Ophelia Hall (1.2): Where Enid, Yoko, and Wednesday live
    • Founder (1.7): Nevermore Academy was found by Nathaniel Faulkner, who was known for cataloging all known outcasts. It isn’t said if he was an outcast himself, it is known he was killed by a Hyde.

  • The Poe Cup (Season 1): A competition where students compete in a boat race and foot chase
    • The Big Event (1.2): The Poe cup is a 125-year tradition where students row to Raven Island, pull a flag from Crackstone’s crypt, and then come back to the dock where they started, with the winner not sinking or being sunk – with the prize being a trophy, special privileges, and bragging rights

  • A Dove or A Raven (1.5): According to Morticia, those who have visions lean either towards being Doves, who mostly see positive things, and then there are Ravens, who see darker, more powerful visions, that can lead to madness

    • Awakening (1.7): Hyde being are born with a mutation that is unlocked due to a traumatic event, through chemicals or hypnosis, and if liberated by a third party, they bond with them and do their bidding
    • Banned (1.7): Hyde beings have been banned from Nevermore for 30 years, making it another notable thing in the 90s
    • Female v. Males (S2E5): Female hydes are generally strong, and males usually drastically decline, health-wise
  • The Founder’s Pyre Ceremony (2.1): A tradition, back when Gomez and Morticia went to Nevermore, which started the school year
  • El duelo-a-ciegas (2.3): A fencing fight, with a blind fold, in which there is usually a wager in the middle
  • LOIS (S2E4): We learn that LOIS, which Gilpin has been investigating, isn’t a person but a secret program, which is the “Long Term Outcast Integration Study.” The end goal of the study was to turn normies into outcasts.

  • Nevermore Hummers (1.2): The name of Eugene’s bee keeping club
  • Nightshade Society (1.2): At one time, they were defenders of Nevermore, but it seems after a incident almost 30 years ago, they eventually devolved into a social club

    • Psychics (Season 2 Promo – Introduced in Season 1): Also known as vision havers, get glimpses of past or future with one touch. Of them, there are two subgroups: Doves see good things, and ravens see bad things.
    • Werewolves (Season 2 Promo – Introduced in Season 1): Also known as furs or Lupine, they have super strength, speed, and heightened senses, and often are found in packs.
      • Alphas (S2E6): Alpha werewolves don’t need it to be a full moon to transform, and often end up alone
    • Hydes (Season 2 Promo – Introduced in Season 1): Chaotic, strong, fast, unpredictable, and highly emotional, Hydes are a unique brand of outcast as they generally don’t act on their own but with a master.
    • Sirens (Season 2 Promo – Introduced in Season 1): Outcasts known for their aesthetics and ability to hypnotize you with their siren song. Also, when they touch water, they become like mermaids.
    • Gorgons (Season 2 Promo – Introduced in Season 1): Also known as stoners, their look stuns temporarily, and often they wear hats, beanies, and hoodies to keep their powers in check.

Wednesday Addams & Goody Addams (Jenna Ortega)

Deep into her teens and at a stage where she wishes to rebel against her parents, Wednesday seems to be deeply unhappy with no one to talk to. So, she pours what she cannot verbally say into her novels while still learning about the world around her, with a particular interest in language, fencing, and the cello.

As for Goody Addams? She is Wednesday’s direct ancestor from whom she inherits her dark gift, which Goody makes seem will doom Wednesday to loneliness.

Formerly known as Fernando Fingertips, Thing is an outcast who lives with the Addams family and often trails or spies on someone.

Unlike the Pugsley Addams we know, this version isn’t following in Wednesday’s footsteps with a litany of contraptions and means to cause a stir. Pugsley is more normal and vulnerable, and while he has a place in Wednesday’s heart, he is also a reminder of what led to her needing to be monotone and drain herself of emotions as much as possible.

Enid is a Lycan who, unfortunately, can’t fully transform into a full wolf. She can extend her claws, but that’s it. But, outside of being a Lycan, Enid is someone sociable, writes a gossip blog, and loves bright and bold colors. Which makes her being Wednesday’s roommate seem cruel for both parties.

Marilyn is the dorm mother assigned to ensure Wednesday and those in her care do well at Nevermore Academy. Which is something she takes rather seriously, and to welcome people, she usually finds a plant that fits their personality. For example, she gives Wednesday a Black Dahlia.
