Who Is Wayne
16-year-old Wayne is a bit of a weirdo and has lived his life almost like an anti-hero. Specifically, if you wrong or hurt someone he loves, he’ll antagonize you and use his almost inhuman ability to not feel pain against you. For whether it is being punched in the face, hot coffee poured on him, or a knife through his hand, you won’t hear a scream or see him freak out. Yet, don’t call him a sociopath. As shown by his love for his father, and relationship with Del, he does feel, cannot lie, and can be quite reliable. Making him ultimately just a weird kid.

- For most of Wayne’s young life, especially after his mom left when he was 5, he was babysat by his older brother. Someone who was very abusive of him and took advantage of his brother, even as a kid, not feeling pain that much.

Who Is Wayne Sr.
Like his son, Wayne Jr., Wayne Sr. was a bit of a hell-raiser with quite the reputation. However, with age, it seemed he calmed down a bit, got a job, and when his ex left him and Wayne Jr. when Wayne was 5, he really buckled down. However, after some time, his job caused him cancer and left him bedridden. Yet, he still figured out ways to make rent and take care of the household.

Who Is Del
Like Wayne, her mother isn’t around, and she didn’t have the best childhood. Her dad, Bobby, and older brothers treat her like a captive and seemingly isolate her from the outside world a bit. However, when she does have freedom, it seems she likes to steal and sell what she steals to make some money. Making it clear that she is definitely rough around the edges. However, there is something about Wayne which smoothes out those edges and makes her willing to be vulnerable.

Donna is Del and the twins mother who was closer to Del than the boys. From the start of the series, it has been about a year since Donna either left or died and it had a drastic effect on Del because Donna was her cheerleader. She made her feel pretty, smart, valued, and the sudden departure of her person left a gaping hole in Del’s life. Hence why, perhaps to feel close to her mom still, she picked up a lot of her mom’s bad habits like stealing and lying.

Pushing the idea, for Wayne, Del would be happy around people like them.

Especially upon her son coming down who, despite not much contact in 11 years, she seems to have missed.
