Joey (Odessa A’zion)
Joey is a member of the dance team, a potential captain soon, who tries her best to be very progressive and really own her shit. Also, as much as she enjoys hanging with the boys, she can be a girls’ girl. Just, in general, Joey is clearly popular for a reason, and not just because she is flirtatious.
Tim is one of Joey’s friends and a potential crush, who, like Joey, has a bit of a history that makes them seem more ready and willing for the right now than for something long term. However, it is becoming clear he’d like to be more, and with that, he struggles with Joey’s fears of being tied down.
Dominique, often called Dom, is a Haitian-American girl whose family struggles financially, partly due to her mom’s spending habits. But, between basketball, doing hair, and academics, she hopes to be one of the first to go to college in her family and get away from the chaos.
Sid is on the swim team, who has a girlfriend, Flora, with who he hasn’t had sex with, is from a family of immigrants, questioning his sexuality, and dealing with a recent terrorist attack and the fear of how that will affect him. Mainly in the form of being assumed to be middle eastern despite being Indian. Oh, and on top of that, he struggles to get into a good college to add to all that is stressing him out.
Jay is Sonia’s crush who, alongside Owen, is trying to become a professional saxophone player. But, unlike Owen, Jay comes from money and connections, which have allowed him to take classes and get better.

Raised by Jewish parents but Chinese born, Leila struggles with her identity and joining Grand Army high school has only further complicated her journey. Especially after being noted as one of the most f***able girls in school.
