Plot Overview
Aisha is a high school-aged teenager who has lived most of her life with optic nerve spasms and multiple episodes a year of seemingly blacking out. But, despite the attention that brings, she has a fairly normal life. She had a boyfriend named Levi, until she caught him getting sucked off by a robot, a best friend named Cari, and was raised in a single-parent home by her English professor father named Martin.
But, with falling at a party invited to, and cutting herself open, Aisha learns she is not human, or perhaps not fully human. A topic that she brings to her therapist, one Sharon Carter, who seemingly is either the designer or maintenance person for Aisha. Leaving you to wonder, beyond Sharon, who else knows Aisha is a robot?

- Who is Aisha’s mother? The way she is talked about, it is assumed she is dead, but even with recognizing Aisha is a robot, surely she is based on someone’s physicality?
- Is Martin aware his daughter is a robot, and if so, is he a scientist, part of the experiment, or what?
Highlights
The Science & Aisha’s Story
When it comes to Sci-Fi, we’re more of a practical, could fit in modern society, and be explained, kind of person. So “Don’t Look Further,” which gives a slight “Humans” vibe, works well for us. After all, it’s about coming to terms with who you are differently than most coming of age stories.
I mean, can you imagine learning you’re a robot and, on top of that, someone is controlling what you remember, and it isn’t clear who knows or doesn’t? Never mind the few who do know you aren’t sure if they are trustworthy or not? Heck, taking note Levi said there are cheat codes, and how we see Aisha controlled once or twice, the factor that someone could discover what she is and take advantage of that?
Managing The Secret
As of not, the only person we know is aware Aisha is a robot is Sharon. You can assume Martin does as well, but who knows if she was adopted and whether Martin himself could also be a robot? All that we know for sure is that Aisha doesn’t exist in some giant warehouse lab but in the real world.
Which pushes the need to question, as she gets angry, possibly lashes out, will we see her capable of hurting people or, thanks to Jenny, pushing her limitations? Since Jenny, who discovered Aisha’s secret, doesn’t necessarily seem trustworthy.

First Impression: Optimistic
Like “Die Hart,” what “Don’t Look Deeper” is living on is concept and the hope the execution will make it worth it. However, unlike “Die Hart,” it isn’t reliant on one persona but the story and characters, of which all feel worth investing in. Hence the optimism about where this may go for while rather tame in the premiere episodes, as Aisha pushes for the truth, who knows where this show may go?
