You’re Gonna Cry

“Starling” exists strictly to make you cry. A spirit, on her birthday, visiting her parents, clearly in mourning, struggling to get home? Come on! But what elevates “Starling” is that the journey isn’t necessarily cheap. The girl is a new spirit, doesn’t seem to know the rules or how things work when it comes to moving about the human world, and it makes her adventure, which you assume isn’t something she can do on a whim, all the more emotionally impactful. Thus making the ending something you can’t help but shed tears over.
