Film Summary

A group of people are traversing underground caves to safely get to La Luz. However, their safety is highly dependent on the batteries powering the light fixtures they have. This light is necessary to ward off monsters that live underground, in the shadows. But as one person’s battery goes out, panic starts to settle in, and there is the need to wonder if there is a chance for survival when everyone begins to fend for themselves?

While It Feels Incomplete, You Are Completely Drawn In

Leaving out details can often be detrimental for shorts. It can leave you stuck asking why this, why that, rather than paying attention to what is happening then and now. “Night Breakers” side steps that issue for you are constantly left to wonder what’s next? Yes, catching anyone’s name is impossible. Also, knowing why they are heading to La Luz, what life they left, and other things you are left to wonder. But, in the journey, as monsters snatch people, betrayals happen, and you’re left to wonder who, if anyone, may survive. It isn’t until the credits roll that the rush of questions comes about – which is how it should be.

Overall
"Night Breakers" embraces the idea that shorts are but a pitch to leave the audience clamoring for more, and damn, does it do that in a notable way.
