Brief Introduction

20-year-old Kazuya begins the series with getting dumped after dating his ex for only a month. This sends him into a dark place for relationships have consistently evaded him, and with most of his family treating him as a bit of a failure, this hurts. Add in he wants his grandmother to see him happy with someone before he dies, losing Mami made him desperate enough to rent a girlfriend.

Brief Introduction

For reasons not revealed in the series premiere, Chizuru in a rent a girlfriend, and a popular one at that. Likely due to her learning from the guy after each and every date to further be ideal. However, when Kazuya makes her job hard, she reveals a less than soft and friendly side to herself which is a complete opposite of who she is while on the job.

  • Season 1: Sometimes uses her grandmother’s last name Ichinose rather than Mizuhara.
  • The Reason She Is A Rental Girlfriend (1.8): Chizuru is an aspiring actress and considering acting school costs money, pretending to be people’s girlfriends has been her means of gaining experience.
  • Is 19 years old (Source: 1.11)
  • Her Parents (2.3): Her dad abandoned the family when she was little, and her mom died not too long after her dad left, and they moved in with her grandparents. Unfortunately, as of season 2, episode 3, the only one that is left is her grandmother, as her grandfather died when she was in high school.

Mami is Kazuya’s ex-girlfriend who seemingly isn’t very happy with the fact he moved on and has a new girlfriend. Now, as for why she broke up with him if she has feelings for him, or why she hates that he moved on? That isn’t presented when we first meet her. All that we know is that there is this sugar sweet side to her and then this blank, almost threatening side, as pictured above.
