Recap

Featuring: Uchimura, King Rampage, Butagalian

With Butagalian undercutting all of Uchimura and Sylphid’s work and becoming severely embarrassed, Uchimura starts an investigation that leads him to reveal and trap Butagalian as a thief. He does this in front of King Rampage, after setting up Butagalian to sell King Rampage a fake Rosemarin, that nearly leads to his death.

Thankfully, Uchimura thinks long term, and rather than just have a problem disposed of, he concocts a way to save Butagalian’s life while putting him on notice. This means uncovering the fact that King Rampage’s gold isn’t as infinite as he makes appear and presenting Butagalian as an asset he can’t live without.

Saving this man is a shock to both King Rampage and Butagalian, but Uchimura knows all of Butaglian’s story, so he doesn’t see him strictly as a villain. You see, besides being called The Prophet for always being up on market trends, Butagalian is also called The Merchant of Death. Now, you may think this is because he sells weapons, but it is rather due to him continuing to trade in conflict zones and to boot, he will not only adopt orphans but offer them work.

Because of this, Butagalian has the type of alliances and favor that honestly could make his death a borderline war crime. But, it isn’t necessarily the influence that Butagalian has that stops him being executed for selling fake goods but Uchimura’s kindness which confuses and makes King Rampage laugh. This leaves Butagalian worried about the debt Uchimura would put him in, but ultimately, Uchimura entrusts Butagalian with trading Rosemarin beyond the Demon Lord’s territories and the Golden Country to allow Uchimura to move on other things.

Which, based on Butagalian’s friendly note to end the episode, it seems strife in or near the kingdom will present a threat to Uchimura he may not be able to talk his way out of.

Trajectory

Trajectory (86/100): Climbing

Isekai anime often transports people to new worlds, and they stumble and luck their way into becoming notable people within that country or beyond. Uchimura is different. With each episode you don’t see him as just lucking into the position he is in, or how he talks himself out of potential violence, but see transferable skills that can defeat those with literal magic powers.

Episode 7 is no different but what we really appreciate is how it not only showed us how people outside of the Demon Lord’s territory see Uchimura, but considering Butagalian’s business practices, it gets you to appreciate what he does as well. Does Uchimura take advantage of the weakness of another clan or country? Yes. But he rarely makes an effort to make an enemy or be petty. He is the ultimate deal maker without having to go low and similar to Harper in “Industry,” knows that money can heal old wounds and slights.

Now, unlike Harper, his ambition doesn’t consume him and all around him, but there is no denying that for an outsider, Uchimura has picked up quickly, made a name for himself, and with each episode of Headhunted To Another World, you aren’t just entertained but pushed to learn something at the same time.
