Recap

Onto The Next – Rudy, Ruijerd, Eris

With reconciling with his father done, off Rudy goes to take Eris back to the Central continent and further rehab the Superd’s reputation. Which, so it seems, will partly be done by Ruijerd whipping people’s asses and Rudy giving them a handmade statue in return.

Heading Back Home – Roxy, Rokari, Rowin

Roxy hasn’t been home in decades, and the reason why is because she is one of the few, if not only, of her people who can’t speak telepathically. Because she lacked this ability, she was never able to connect with other kids, and even as an adult, it is clear that everyone finds it strange that she moves about silently.

Rokari crying

Yet, while she may not connect to her community, that doesn’t lessen the love she has for her parents. Yes, there are issues, but as Rokari shows, both she and Rowin still deeply love their daughter. In fact, her mother blames herself, and despite hoping to see Roxy every 20 years, she is joyous that Roxy countered with 50. Mind you, people in their village live to roughly be 200, and Rokari is in her early 100s, so that means maybe once or twice seeing her daughter again.

However, considering Roxy left rather abruptly, this compromise is better than nothing. Though after opening up and talking, maybe Roxy may lower the decades between visits. Who knows, like Rokari asked, perhaps she’ll bring Rudy next time?

A Silver Lining – Roxy

With learning Rudy is okay, never mind took over the name “Dead End” with Eris and a Superd, of all beings, it seems her search for him is done for now. She hopes they’ll be reunited someday, but now her focus is on the rest of Paul’s family.

Roxy’s Backstory

This was a rather simple episode that just answered the question, “How is Roxy doing?” without pushing the overall show forward. Yet, Roxy is a fan favorite and one of mine, so getting to see her and get the kind of character development that may not have been at the forefront of your mind but was nice. Even with crying a bit when Rokari did, I wouldn’t say that this was the best use of an episode, but we got 5 episodes left and could also get another cour or season.

That is assuming we don’t get a time jump anytime soon.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation: Season 1/ Episode 18 “Separate Journeys” – Recap/ Review (with Spoilers)
Trajectory: Plateau
Episode 18 feels like a lighter version of what we got in episode 17. Mainly due to not having as much background on Roxy's relationship with her parents previously, and all of that, and how she felt about her community, jammed into one episode.
