Overall
Our Rating (80/100): Positive (Worth Seeing)
It is often noted that only in media can you expect the normalization of things that may appear odd or even never thought about. For example, there is such a thing as cuddle therapy where, platonically, you can pay for someone to cuddle with you and get a sense of human connection for an hour or two.
From what it seems, the ability to buy kindness, connection, even non-sexual intimacy, is a want, and in the case of Daria, something that is unquestionably a need. And to watch her allow herself to become vulnerable, playful, and almost heal her inner child through her interactions with Max, there is as much sadness as there is joy. For as much as we all deserve to get the services we paid for, sometimes it is unfortunate that some of our basic human needs come at a price.
