Movie Summary

In the small town of Bayleen Bay, the ice cream man coming around is quite the hit. Adults are happy, children are making ice cream goatees for themselves with how messy they are, and no one seems aware something sinister is going on.

You see, this ice cream turns children into the most wicked entities imaginable and paralyzes most teenagers who could do something. As for the adults? Well, think Children of the Corn regarding what happens to those over 18 who dare to get in any single child’s way.

Violent, But In A Humorous Way [82/100]

Ice Cream Man fits Eli Roth’s brand of wanting you to be disgusted by the inner workings of the human body, while laughing at the situation the violence is in. A kid hyped up on sugar, mutilating their parent’s hand – Roth tries to find the funny in that. A teacher trying to break up a situation, only for kids to throw marbles on the floor so he slips and cracks his head open.

It’s all a series of silly setups that, for those a little off-kilter, you will likely laugh at. Meanwhile, others may focus on what the kids do as brains, intestines, and more get exposed. Leaving you, if you have long been desensitized to such things, not thinking much of it. However, if you’re not? Oh, you may find this so distasteful that it becomes hard to eat a snack.

Minimal Care In Who Lives Or Dies [72/100]

The reason we don’t mention any characters’ names is that Ice Cream Man doesn’t necessarily push anyone to be important enough to remember. Yes, we do follow a handful of characters as the town’s children commit genocide on the adults. However, whether they live or die rarely feels important. Whether they end up another mindless minion of the Ice Cream Man is never something you truly feel the need to fear.

For the most part, they are just witnesses to the heinous acts. Be it bricks falling on someone’s head, adults being hacked up with various weapons, and after a certain point, you realize there are no heroes. The leads are simply our mediums into a town gone berserk who have no real means of taking on 40+ kids, unless they surrender their humanity and are willing to kill to survive.

Ice Cream Man is for those who just like graphic violence and don’t need notable stories attached to it. You don’t want leads capable of defeating the villain or a backstory that is well-made; you just want to see blood, guts, gore, and a touch of humor, for not every graphic movie has to be serious.
