25-year-old Nicholas is from Australia and is a very out gay man. One who was raised by a single mother after his father, Darren, has an affair in America and decided to stay there. But, things aren’t horrible for Nicholas. He has found his passion in entomology, has long since recovered his relationship with his dad, even though it has left his mother a bit of a wreck, and he even has a decent relationship with his two sisters. Which comes in handy considering the events of the series.

Darren’s middle child who is a composer, really into Black men, and happens to have autism. Something that, when she was younger, led the doctor who diagnosed her to believe she would be on the more severe side of the spectrum. However, thanks to Darren, she can talk, do public speaking, and while she doesn’t necessarily like hugs, she found her love for her dad to be strong enough to hug him.

Darren’s youngest child and second daughter, who is a 14-year-old girl. One who often butts heads with Nicholas, and has done so since she was a child, but ultimately does love him.

However, being that Tallulah can’t deal with being bored and likes the drama, when she isn’t getting Genevieve in trouble the two, mostly, get along.

Nicholas’ mom, and Darren’s first wife, who was left in Australia for Matilda and Genevieve’s mom. This, some would say, did a number on her since Darren didn’t want a second child with her, but did have one with his mistress. Also, it seems, even when Nicholas was 12, years after being left, she still was experiencing some form of PTSD and was willing to pay her son not to leave her as his dad did.

That is, unlike Genevieve who tries to build up Barb but is quickly and often dismissed by Tallulah.
