Slide Text

  1. Intro Slide
  2. Recap: While Wednesday thought she would return to Nevermore stronger, away from her mother, and only having to worry about her brother, Pugsley, that may not be the case.
  3. Recap: Between a stalker, who would threaten her manuscript, and nearly the entire school, including new Principal Dort, adoring her, she is in what could be seen as a personal hell.
  4. Recap: But, never afraid to take initiative and wrangle control of a situation, Wednesday makes moves to be a loner amongst the outcasts, while having visions which worry Morticia and trigger memories of her sister, Ophelia.
  5. Recap: One such vision is the possibility that her actions, maybe inactions, could lead to the death of Enid, just as Enid is accepted by her own kind, and dealing with some love drama.
  6. Review: The season premiere of Wednesday is far better than the beginning of the majority of shows returning after a star-making first season.
  7. Review: Ortega, with the writing of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, continue to deliver quotable phrases, moments that are gif-worthy, and making it clear that the torch that Ortega holds as Wednesday is in safe hands.
  8. Review: But, the mystery of who is Wednesday’s stalker, introduced in the first season finale, as well as who controls the murder of crows, pushes the idea that the story of Wednesday may not be as strong as the character.
  9. Review: For while we have Steve Buscemi and others join the fold, I’d submit their inclusions are more so familiar faces than something which gets to boost Wednesday.
  10. Review: Leaving me to wonder if, like in the first season, while much praise might be due towards Ortega, the season’s mystery might be a letdown.
  11. Overall (80/100): While Ortega’s return as Wednesday is welcomed, there is a need to question if perfect casting has been met with writing that may deliver quippy dialog but may also give another disappointing story.
