Slide Text

- Intro Slide
- Recap: Belly and Jeremiah continue to struggle to gain support for their nuptials, but do have John on their side, and Conrad and Steve are convinced by being offered a co-best man position.
- Recap: Laurel and Adam, however, double down, with Laurel coming down hard on Belly and even rejecting the marriage in front of Jeremiah – causing Belly to leave home in protest.
- As this happens, Steven slowly grows closer to Denise and discovers Scott, Lucinda’s ex, took out $10,000 in her name, effectively triggering Taylor to forego New York to help her mom.
- Recap: Not to be outdone, with all that is going on, Belly decides to forego Paris to be with Jeremiah, make more money, and plan the wedding.
- Recap: Of which, thus far, she has only gotten the dress, and there are 6 weeks left until the planned wedding date.
- Review: Considering what Laurel said about disrupting her self-discovery due to becoming a wife and mother, it makes seeing Belly walk that path feel devastating.
- Review: For you can see Belly being absorbed into Jeremiah’s world, and his charm, his neediness, disarming her in ways that she isn’t clocking whatsoever.
- Review: I mean, look at Steven. He, too, got caught on that hook, despite being one of the most vocal critics of it all. But, I will admit, if we’re ranking interest in characters, he is moving up.
- Review: From his interactions with Denise to the will they or won’t they with Taylor, and that triggering what she has going on, again, the non-Belly drama is the best part of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
- Review: Though I will admit, Conrad ending the episode, making it seem that hug from Belly opened the floodgates, as much as we may not like love triangles, him ruining his brother’s nuptials could be undeniably good drama.
- Overall (80/100): There is always push and pull when it comes to The Summer I Turned Pretty. Belly’s dramatics is the push away, but the stories not dealing with her nuptials or love triangle pull you in, making the show feel akin to a guilty pleasure for it’s hard not to be frustrated watching this, yet wanting to see how it all ends.
