Episode 9 “Tommy’s Getaway” Details
- Available On: OWN
- Public Release Date: August 15, 2025
Storylines
- When it comes to the weekend getaway, for some, like Cisco and Tae, who share a room together, this is blissful and basically a prelude to their next chapter. The same could be said for Rose and Husieen, who share a room, two different beds, but are pretty much locked in.
- As for others? Deona gets herself in the bottom two since only Calil seems interested, and that isn’t firm. Angie’s comments on getting her lick back if done wrong turn off her connections, and Sahara? Well, what she stirs up deserves its own bullet point.
- So, when it comes to Kiara and Jay, it is presented that they are each other’s only connection, and it seems she wanted a Tae and Cisco vibe. However, Sahara and Jay talk, intertwine legs, he massages her, and Kiara gets mad to the point of icing Jay, then yelling at him when he tries to talk, so they end the episode in a bad place.
- Ultimately, however, it seems Deona and Angie are in the bottom two, and we predict that, with Deona not having any notable connections or interactions, she is likely to be sent home.

Highlights
It Continues To Be A Highlight Of The Season [83/100]
One of the issues that always plagues the cast is that, as Tommy says in this episode, Ready To Love isn’t looking for people to form polyamorous groups. The idea is you grown, need to be focused on finding love, and through the selection of the casting people, you should be able to within this group. But, there is an elimination piece that makes it so you have to date multiple people, and with the show usually taking about 2-3 months, on average, yes, that is enough to get to know people. However, dating with intention 2 to 3 people, on camera, then deliberating about who isn’t ready to love? That’s hard.
That’s why the group interactions, and getaway in particular, are important, for it lets people know where they stand. Some are more honest than others in the process about who is their top, who is in the mix, and who is just a friend. The getaway, with it being a whole weekend with the rest of the cast, shows you who has a fantasy in their head, or out of their mouth during deliberations, and who may have something real.
As shown, Tae and Cisco got something real to the point that Calil barely even bothered. But for Kiara and Jay, as real as things seemed, there is a need to question if the relationship was as strong as either perceived it to be. And the same goes for the rest as you see people less juggle their connections and more hone in on who they really want to give their time and attention to.
On The Fence
A Reminder Of How This Show Could Use Better Facilitator [74/100]
I will forever feel like there are huge missed opportunities when it comes to Ready To Love, specifically in terms of providing tools for not only the cast but also the audience, regarding dating. Tommy’s credentials are strictly being married for a long time. That is wonderful and aspirational.
However, you see the baggage a lot of cast members bring in, which is likely the key to what has held them back from fruitful relationships, marriage, or building the families they desire. Tommy isn’t active enough to offer that and honestly, I don’t think could provide much to really help facilitate Angie’s personal life being taxing, Cisco starting over and the struggles he is going through, and a lot of the stuff which makes the cast members clearly human, but sometimes treated more as mediums for entertainment than people.
But, even if they did bring someone on, there is the question of who, the how, and whether it would be a special episode that acts like couples counseling, or what?
Overall
Our Overall Rating [78/100]
Entertainment-wise, we get all we could want and need from Ready To Love. However, as someone now in their mid-30s and single, I gotta admit, there are times I wish this show did more. It isn’t enough for Jay and Calil to have small conversations in which Calil gives insight into why Kiara is upset. The Angie conversation regarding busting windows? It shows that there is a real need for perhaps a more hands-on approach.
This isn’t to say we need a matchmaker like Ready To Love: Last Resort, but certainly someone who is available and maybe plays an active role in perhaps one or two episodes, in getting these people ready to love – be it with the cast on the show or with an outside endeavor.
Question(s) Left Unanswered & Predictions
- Next To Be Eliminated (Women): After the next episode’s elimination, in which we foresee Deona being gone, there will only be Tae, Rose, Kiara, Sahara, and Angie. Angie is not anyone’s top pick at this point, and Kiara has one sole connection, which is rocky. So, assuming we have one more elimination for the women, they will be in the bottom two, and Angie is likely to get the boot.
- Next To Be Eliminated (Men): Based on previews for the next episode, it seems Jay is in the hot seat, so he is going to be one of the bottom two. As for who could join him? Honestly, that is hard to predict. Cisco only has Tae, but them being locked in could help. Calil, if Deona leaves, could leave Tae in a spot where she is forced to choose between the two men, since Calil hasn’t really pursued anyone in a notable fashion – at least on camera.
Ultimately, we think Calil will get eliminated, and Jay will continue to try to recover with Kiara. Especially since, if she eliminates him, she might as well self-eliminate since no one has seemed that interested in her for a while.
- Final Three: Tae and Cisco, Husieen and Rose, Cam and Sahara
Slide Text
- Intro Slide
- Recap: It’s the seasonal getaway, and like every season before, while a handful of relationships become solid, the majority either stall out or some even blow up.
- Recap: Tae and Cisco? Solid, as are Husieen and Rose. But, everyone else is either in limbo or, in the case of Kiara and Jay? Things blow up for them.
- Recap: But, despite that interaction, it seems Deona is not moving fast enough, and Angie presenting herself as someone who could cause drama places them in the bottom two.
- Recap: Unfortunately, we don’t know who gets the boot this episode, but my bet is on Deona since even Calil, her sole connection, isn’t sure if she even likes him.
- Review: When the whole cast gets together, they remain the best episodes, and this lives up to every getaway we’ve seen since Ready To Love started.
- Review: We get a real sense of who the endgame is and could last past the reunion show, and get to see who doesn’t understand that this dating competition isn’t for those who are insecure, be it about themselves or their relationship.
- Review: With that said, we remain in the camp of thinking that Tommy may make a good host, but he needs someone with credentials on this show to help these cast members.
- Review: While I get that everyone is an adult, grown, some even have kids, I don’t think the show ever truly addresses the struggles they all have had dating in the past, and ways for them to do better in the future.
- Review: And granted, the baggage leads to the entertainment of the show, but I wouldn’t say it offers any of them the opportunity to heal, gain new tools, or for the audience to get that either – consistently.
- Overall (78/100): As we slowly but surely come upon the end of the journey, there is a good balance between people you believe could make it and those you can be surprised got this far.
