Episode 7 “Meet The Exes” Recap (With Spoilers)
Where The Ex At?: Angie, Cam, Deona, Naeem, Calil, Tae, Cisco, Sahara
After a double elimination of Fritz and Eddie, folks move on to the men having the power to eliminate, and the theme is meeting the ladies’ exes. Problem is, potentially more than any season before, a lot of the ladies don’t have their ex show up.
For Angie, she doesn’t have Cam meet her ex since she feels whatever they may have is far too new, since the ex she introduced Husieen to is the father of her child. Cam takes some offense at that, and this factors into Angie being in the bottom two. As for Deona? Apparently, she isn’t on speaking terms with her ex, and things are toxic. Mind you, she notes she is the type to hold things in and keep the score, so she may not be completely innocent in this. But for Naeem and Calil, what they may not get in information, it seems they are satisfied by looking at Deona.
Switching to Tae, her ex doesn’t show up, and for Cisco, while Tae is his favorite, he sees Calil might be notable competition for him. Her body language had her pointed towards him, and their chemistry was apparent. But, despite that, he is undeterred.
Which leaves Sahara. Her ex is no longer with us, and for Cam, the way Sahara describes the relationship, it doesn’t sound like a good one. She was put in that ride or die position to the point of being constantly tested, needing to be strong, when she wants to be dainty, a damsel, and Cam enjoys seeing her vulnerable. It pushes him to want to be closer and there for her, like her ex seemingly wasn’t.
They Know What The Assignment Is, Right?: Angie, Husieen, Kiara, Jay, Cisco, Shanice, Rose

Having your ex show up and talk to the man who might be your next partner is inherently awkward. However, some take it too far. Kiara’s ex, for example, is 9 years older than her, and made it clear when she was nine and he was 18, he took note of her and he waited for her to come of age to do something. He even says he still loves her in front of Jay, and it is just an awkward scene.
Thankfully, he is the only one to confess feelings while the rest of the men generally keep things cordial, maybe giving slight peeks behind the curtain. For example, Angie’s ex, the father of her child, makes it clear her need to be independent went as far as driving herself to the hospital when she was in labor – which for the men who want to be head of the household, raises a bit of a red flag.
As for Shanice and Rose? Their exes absorb all the blame for the relationship failing, but one thing that is notable is that Shanice’s ex is from college, and Rose’s is just from last October. Cisco notes the long distance between them dating as deliberations come about, but Rose’s relatively recent relationship doesn’t pick up traction.
Can’t Just Like Them, You Have To Actively Choose: Shanice, Angie, Cisco, Cam

Shanice and Angie end up in the bottom two. Shanice, due to Cisco being the only one actively pursuing her, and the rest of the men feeling like she is using templates to speak to them, which doesn’t inspire much in the way of interaction. Angie? Cam took note of her not allowing him to meet her ex, and Huseein didn’t like the fact that she doesn’t let the man lead.
But, between the two, Shanice is eliminated and perhaps delivers the sweetest goodbye message in Ready To Love history.
Other Noteworthy Information
- Elimination Prediction (Male): The bottom two will be Naeem and Cisco. Naeem for the amount of kids he has, and Cisco due to his financial situation, and I think Naeem will probably get the boot since it is five kids.
- Elimination Prediction (Female): Sahara and Deona, I think, will end up in the bottom two, or Sahara and Angie. In my mind, Cam being the only one into Sahara is going to put her on the ropes, and with him having other interests, that could put her on edge. But, with it seeming Sahara makes it to the group vacation, Deona is more likely to get cut.
- Final Three Couples: Cam and Sahara, Husieen and Rose, Calil and Tae

Review and Commentary
Highlights
Shanice’s Goodbye [85/100]
Shanice’s exit was probably the most graceful, sweet, and heartwarming in Ready To Love history. From her not just wishing Cisco well, but seeing herself as a conduit of God in some way to help Cisco on his healing journey? Which, to be frank, it seems he needed? Oh, I was tempted to start crying like Cisco because you get the sense that it was a genuine statement.
Sahara’s Need To Have The Option To Be Soft [88/100]

We’re rooting for Sahara so badly. Yes, she is a flat-Earther, and probably has other red flags, but at the same time, how can your heart not hurt for her? Is she a lot at times? Yes. But as much as Tommy and the others may joke about it, there is no denying the passion she has for what she believes in, and that, likely, she is the epitome of being a ride or die.
But, as she conveyed, having to be that for a situation or two, that’s fine, life happens. It’s being constantly expected to be that strong, able, willing, and on all the time, which goes from being unfortunate to draining to miserable. This is why we love watching Cam stick by her to the point of getting beyond the superficial, where most of the men left Sahara. It is in seeing her talk about wanting to be girly, dainty, taken care of, not needing to be strong, that you’re reminded not just of Sahara’s humanity, but a lot of women like her.
Truly, as much as we may critique Ready To Love, especially the casting choices at times, I’m so glad Sahara is on this show. I’m also glad that there is a man like Cam who is being all you’d need him to be with someone like Sahara. Particularly being patient enough to understand that her getting to let her guard down isn’t an opportunity she likely gets often, especially in an environment that feels safe to do so.
On The Fence
This Meet The Exes Idea Is Still Terrible [73/100]
The idea that exes are going to provide valuable insight remains terrible. From Kiara’s ex, who now looks a bit predatory, to most of the men being on their best behavior, not much was gained. In my mind, it would just be better to have two meet-the-friends episodes, one for the men, one for the women, and call it a day.
As they say nearly every season, exes are exes for a reason, and now with almost half of them not showing up? I feel like that’s a sign to change up the formula.
Overall
Our Overall Rating [82/100]
Ready To Love returns on a high note, despite one of its most questionable annual episode themes returning.
