Recap

Open Up, Get Vulnerable, Give People A Chance: Angie, Eddie, Jay, Coley, Rose, Cam, Kiara, and Rocky

A lot of confessions happen in this episode. Cam opens up about being depressed to the point of contemplating suicide and admitting he was on food stamps. Rocky reveals she tried to sell drugs at one time, Rose reveals every man she has been with has cheated on her, and Kiara reveals her ex going to prison is what helped her end the relationship. This vulnerability leads to some mixed reactions.

For Rocky, it doesn’t seem to do all that much, but for Rose, who reveals her truth on a date with Cam, it brings them closer. But for Kiara, while her being with a guy with some hood qualities is of interest to some, it also rubs others the wrong way.

But, at the very least, Jay and Coley grow closer. He moves past the façade he saw and seems to build a connection, and Angie, showing wifey potential, finds herself cuddled up with Eddie and moving in on Coley’s territory.

You Are Your Own Worst Enemy Sis: Sahara, Tru, Naeem, Fritz, Calil

When it comes to Tru, she grows tired of Naeem trying to call her out. He may not have gotten the main number, but he does have a number, and his lack of pursuit and attitude are killing the vibe and her interest. But proving it may not just be Naeem, so it could be her, when Calil tries to get to know her, if just her age, she decides to be cagey with the number.

Now, in her defense, whether in the South or up north, asking a woman her age is deemed inappropriate, so why he was pressed about how old she was could be considered odd. But it did end up souring his thoughts and feelings and complicating things.

As for Sahara? Well, she didn’t do anything beyond be herself. But you know, for people like Fritz, Sahara is a lot, and while she may be a good time to hang out with, maybe watch, in terms of being presented as a girlfriend to friends and family? He doesn’t see that for her, and most men seemingly don’t, either.

Name Names: Tru, Sahara, Cam, Calil

Ultimately, Sahara and Tru end up in the bottom two and it goes as expected. Both are a bit surprised, offended, and their egos get a bit bruised. Sahara even talks about potentially self-eliminating, the first of the season, but Cam talks her out of it and lets her know she is staying in the journey.

Tru? Oh, she doesn’t take anything Cam says lying down. She wants names of who said what and agreed with certain criticism, and Calil tries to avoid doing so and all but confirms. This display perhaps shows why the men ultimately thought she wasn’t ready to love and like the preceding eliminated cast members, she doubles down on who she is during her exit interview.

Predictions

  1. Next Eliminated (Women): Sahara is the only one guaranteed to be in the bottom 2. It is hard to guess who could join her since the other ladies are doing what it is expected in being vulnerable, opening up, and trying to make connections. With that said, it does seem Rocky, based on how the show is edited, has maybe only made one connection. So, with “Homie Vibes” still haunting Sahara, it’s likely that it will either knock her out or keep her in the bottom two for another term.
  2. Next Eliminated (Men): Naeem has been lucky thus far, and I don’t see it lasting. With him having five kids, it just makes it hard to believe he’ll make it to the end, mainly since no one who has noted they have that many kids has made it to the end, to my recollection. But, similar to Rocky, I think Jay may end up in the bottom two with him since, outside of Coley, does he have any other connections? But with Tru, Naeem’s only connection thus far, and that one being terrible, leaving, there is a good chance of him being eliminated.

Question(s) Left Unanswered

  1. What is with the Fritz beef? Cisco made a comment that implies he doesn’t like the man, and in the preview for next week, Cam does as well.

Trajectory (81/100): Plateau

Highlights

The Maturity To Know When You Are Wrong Or When It’s Just Not A Vibe [85/100]

During the elimination process, Jay admits, when it comes to Shanice, he just isn’t mature enough for her, and you gotta love when a cast member notes it is about them not being in the right place or time, than saying it is about what someone else did or didn’t do. It’s a level of maturity I don’t think we get enough of on this show.

On The Fence

Harder Choices For The Men Coming Up More Than The Women [78/100]

Sahara in Ready To Love: Season 10 Episode 4 (OWN)

To me, Sahara is someone I can easily see getting kicked, and from that point, it isn’t about people who aren’t being vulnerable or who aren’t trying but simply the men not feeling like they have chemistry. For the women, though, it seems like quite a few of these guys could get kicked, and they could have a double elimination and still have men to spare.

Naeem, Calil, Cam, and Fritz all seem bound for the bottom two at least once before the season is over, and it doesn’t seem hard to fathom why. Naeem, having so many kids, has had a dangling sword over his head. Calil has been forgotten on the back burner for who knows how long, Cam almost got written off once, and it seems outside of Rose (and Sahara who is likely to be eliminated), he isn’t likely to build another connection and Fritz? Mr. International? It seems that while traveling might be alluring, there might not be much beyond that.

So, it should be interesting to see how these men handle elimination.
