Episode 11 “Convict Curveball” Storylines/ Recap
When Everything Was Going Good: Angie, Husieen, Rose, Cam, Jay, Kiara
In this episode, Tommy has the men introduce the ladies to their families, and for Angie, Rose, and Kiara, things initially went well. For Cam, his family ranked Angie and Rose the highest, and for Husieen, Angie got top marks since she is spicy, and they thought that could be good for him.
As for Jay? His mom does get on Kiara about shutting down when angry, but for the most part, things go okay.
Letting The Wrong Thing Slip: Tae, Cisco, Husieen, Rose, Cam, Sahara
However, for quite a few of the ladies, things are either outright rocky or they don’t get the thumbs up. Tae bringing up the money issue thing irks Cisco a bit, since he thought they were passed that. Then, for Rose, her revelation is not only that she is no contact with her ex, the father of her son, but also that he is in jail. Husieen feels blind sided enough to cut her off and focus on Angie.
As for how Cam feels? He is a bit shook too, but a problem for him is that his family put Sahara at the bottom, with the claim she is a lot of what he used to interact with, and is made more so for past Cam. But, with a fruitful date and the new Rose detail, he ends up having to decide who to eliminate.
You Were Looking For A Reason, Weren’t You?: Rose, Cam
So, who gets the boot? Rose – but I feel like Cam was looking for a reason. Take note, during the conversation before she is eliminated, Cam is talking about how he felt led on, he curses, and brings up Husieen and Rose sharing a room, like he wasn’t with Sahara. It’s all very petty, a touch childish, and when Rose is eliminated, her exit interview shows she is hurt.
Mind you, more about Husieen spreading information than Cam coming out of pocket.
Review and Commentary
Highlights
Sahara Still In The Game [85/100]
It’s not clear who Cam once dated and how they were, but I like that Sahara was still given a chance and an effort was put in to explore this connection. Granted, am I starting to think she is too good for Cam? Yes. But I still love the idea of someone like Sahara making it to the end. It’s good for the show and the expectations of future possible contestants.
Low Points
Rose’s Elimination [68/100]
Rose’s entire elimination was trash. She seemed beloved, a major catch, the type you’d want to hang onto, and all because she didn’t reveal her ex was in jail; these men are now cutting her off? Make it make sense. Never mind, the way Husieen and Cam handled it makes me think less of them.
Husieen just deciding, after nearly an entire season of her being his top, to just cut it off, was a shock in the worst way. I mean, entertainment-wise, if you keep a betting pool of who was going to make it to the end, it probably was good, but in terms of this being a dating show that isn’t trying to operate like an app, it was terrible.
Then with Cam, I feel like this was the excuse he needed to lighten his load, and between him cursing and the pettiness, I don’t think he should or deserves to make it to the end, or Husieen.
On The Fence
Things Feeling Shaky For Endgame [72/100]
Between Rose’s elimination, Angie getting the family approval but never feeling like she was anyone’s top, Sahara still feeling like Cam’s backup, Tae still unsure about Cisco’s finances, and Jay and Kiara nowhere near past the getaway incident – things don’t look good. It truly does feel like a process of elimination, and granted, most seasons don’t produce married couples or long-term partners, so it isn’t like season 10 would be an outlier.
However, it all looked so good for a few episodes, so to see it begin to fracture is worrisome.
Overall
Our Overall Rating [75/100]
Rose’s elimination was a bit of a shocker, especially over what she was eliminated for and considering her history. But, while the shock is good for entertainment, it does throw a curve ball that leaves you to wonder who can make it to the end, to the reunion, and be talked about in future seasons if Rose could be dismissed as she was?
Question(s) Left Unanswered & Predictions
- End Game Couples: Angie and Husieen, Jay and Kiara, Cisco and Tae
Video Recap/ Review Text
- Intro Slide
- Recap: The men are tasked with having the women meet their families, and, outside of a few bumps in the road, the ladies pass with flying colors.
- Recap: However, Tae mentioning Cisco’s stability, Kiara admitting to shutting down when she gets angry, and Rose saying her ex is in prison are major issues.
- Recap: Of the three, though, Rose not revealing her ex was in prison becomes the biggest issue, and Husieen cuts his interest and decides to focus on Angie because of that.
- Recap: Then, when things are in Cam’s corner, with having a good date with Sahara, he decides to let Rose go – but he does so in a way that has him come a bit out of pocket.
- Review: Rose’s elimination leaves me confused in a multitude of ways, because of not only how she presented herself, but also based on how the men received her thus far.
- Review: In my mind, her ex being in jail should have nothing to do with these men, especially if the man has been locked up for years and only their son has contact with him.
- Review: But, that’s the thing about the late stage of Ready To Love, it often seems like people are just looking for a reason, and when they find it, the show becomes no better than a dating app.
- Review: With that said, I’m glad Sahara made it another episode. I am not sure if she and Cam will last past the reunion show, but there is the slightest chance they could choose each other in the end.
- Overall (75/100): Entertainment prevails over the hope anyone involved may have found the one, but with the end of the season coming soon, hard decisions lead the way to impetuous ones.
