Charlie lays out a full and compelling confession, but something is up. Something doesn’t make sense and Kato, Alexander, and Schneider are trying to piece together what.
Episode Focus: Who Is The Real Killer? (Charlie, Kato, Schneider, and Alexander)
Charlie breaks down how he killed Kato, Leon, and Sophie to such a detail that it is hard to imagine him not being the killer. So, with such a revealing confession, he gets charged. However, Schneider is very confused about all this. She finds out he sent the usb of the missing video feed and he claims he snuck in and changed everything. It all sounds like a lie, which surprisingly Charlie is prepared to live as his truth, but it doesn’t add up.
It especially doesn’t for Kato and Alexander who continue to seek alternatives. For Kato, she seeks out this person known as White and, with the help of Ines, sees the man who may have killed her. In fact, it seems he may get the chance to finish the job. As for Alexander? He harasses Vanderkerk’s sister into revealing names and other information. All of which eventually leads to Vanderkerk’s personal drug lab where, of all people, Renee, Kato’s grandma, was helping to make drugs. But, with Vanderkerk gone, so goes that business. But, so it seems, if Alexander tries to arrest her, he might have to prepare for her to snitch on him for she knows he was being paid for his assistance. [note]Alexander is cleared in the Vanderkerk murder and the ruling is he acted in self-defense.[/note]
Commentary
The main thing I got from all of this was that Bart, who we see at the end of the episode, is likely White. What isn’t 100% for sure though is if he is the one who seemingly knocked out Kato when she goes to confront her father about what is noted in subplot 1. But, diving a bit deeper, here are some things I hope the finale answers: First and foremost, being that Renee played a part in Kato’s death, by making the drug Sophie planted in Kato’s drink, why can’t she see her? Also, with the reveal Bart is White, could it be, after Bart dealing with Alexander’s nonsense all these years, and being made to look like a fool, he decided to use Charlie’s need to get on his father’s good side to cover his tracks?
Though perhaps skipped over, a few episodes ago, Alexander notes how he helped Bart when it came to his potential scandal with an under-aged girl. Now, a part of me wonders if that girl was the one Schneider was trying to connect this murder to? For something tells me, with the way this show is unfolding, they aren’t going to waste a single character in this whole thing. Everyone will have their moment in which something they did, or didn’t, do will correlate to Kato’s death and, in extension, Sophie and Leon’s. Plus, Alexander helping Leon, at this point, will be the best explanation yet for why he can see her. For there has yet to be another fathomable reason.
Subplot 1: The Truth Comes Out (Ines & Kato)
Ines and Luc have been having a relationship but it ended sometime around the day Kato died. Which is why when Kato asked her to help find her father to get a ride home, she was dismissed. Thus leading to Kato dying.
Commentary
Layer on top of layer, what led up to Kato’s death is shown as a multitude of decisions, bad decisions, and also selfish decisions. Which is why I like this show. Despite you thinking you know everything you can about one person’s part in Kato’s story, there is always more. Now, I’ll admit, some of it seems random or tossed from left field, but usually with time they elaborate and have things make sense.
But, oh, before we move on. Anyone else find it weird, after all the drama and criminal association Ines had, that the old woman still lets her rent out a room?
Subplot 2: Stop The Mind Games (Luc, Kristel, and Marcus)
Marcus is tired of Luc playing with Kristel to try to rekindle their relationship. So he decides to ask Luc to speak to Sophie, allow him to talk to his daughter. Of which Luc can’t do. So he tells him to stop manipulating his wife. [note]I need to note that Cyril goes to confront Luc about abandoning Ines and their baby and as he is punished, by being forced to stay in Renee’ attic, he finds Renee’s stash of money.[/note]
Commentary
With this being the episode before the finale, I am just in awe and waiting to see who is the killer. There isn’t much more to say.
