Episode 3 “Application of the Contract” Recap (With Spoilers)
The Magic Queen Sildonia Xarles: Kyle, Sildonia
While Kyle has gathered a notable group, Soldonia is different. Beyond being a magical being, she is also the first, through their bonding when he pulls the sword, to know his entire truth. With that, she becomes his confidant regarding being reincarnated, if he can change fate, and far more than the riches held in her labyrinth.

Which, don’t get us wrong, affords him and his team the best weapons, armor, and clothing that can be bought, alongside a plethora of snacks for Sildonia. But, the main thing he gets out of this is having someone he can truly strategize with without holding back any details.
Old Feelings Don’t Disappear In An Instant: Kyle, Urza, Liese
With the full moon upon them, Kyle and Urza do the Application of the Contract, and Urza has mixed feelings. For one, there is something about Kyle that she is drawn to, and he knows her real name, and these hard-to-describe feelings she can’t let go of with ease. But, with Liese talking about Kyle in her sleep, and clearly something being there, Urza is torn.
But what doesn’t help is that the ceremony she and Kyle do is usually associated with marriage, and Kyle, only remembering what happened last time, kisses Urza at the end of the ceremony, thinking that is what’s required to seal it. Urza isn’t too pleased and doesn’t want to talk about it, but it seems, even with Kyle overstepping, there is still something there, and until she learns why he knows her name, she isn’t leaving his side.
The Start Of A Hero’s Journey: Kyle, Sildonia, Milena, Zentos, Carenas
Between Kyle and Sildonia, there is a conversation about how fate works, and with Sildonia believing things are done in broad strokes, she believes Kyle might be on a different timeline, but that doesn’t mean the Great Invasion will be avoided. So, taking note of events which preceded it, Kyle has the group go towards Archen.

Why? Well, because they are going to arrive around the time the beloved Princess Milena died, and Kyle plans to prevent that from happening. Now, how might this be involved in the Great Invasion? That isn’t made clear. However, it is made clear that Princess Milena’s death is a turning point for humanoid people, and her half-brother, Carenas, is next in line and isn’t as charismatic or beloved by the people. Add in Zentos, Milena’s bodyguard, who is a little shifty, and there is a need to question if Milena’s death, in a past life by a hydra, was a setup or not. Never mind, if she didn’t die, would that have made a notable change?
Well, Kyle plans to find out.

Highlights
A Fight Against Fate [83/100]
Kyle’s journey to keep the Great Invasion from happening or prepare the humanoids in such a way to thwart it has always been a question of “How?” Yes, becoming a hero, rich, and speaking to the right people was established as the early how, but now, preventing assassinations, saving princesses, and things like that? It brings something unexpected.
For example, who is to say Kyle may not end up picking apart the allies of the Demon King and helping them integrate or work with humanoid society? Maybe we may learn the Great Invasion was something the demons were pushed to in order to retaliate for something that happened to them? By presenting a conspiracy that a beloved humanoid got killed, now the door is open for anything to be possible, and Kyle realizing that his race of people may have had a stronger role than expected.
Overall
Our Overall Rating [83/100]
While we’re still a bit iffy on the characters and our investment in them, Kyle beginning to work on how he can change the fate of this timeline is bringing up interesting ideas and possibilities. From preventing assassinations, maybe discovering conspiracies that led to the Demon King having no choice but to invade the humanoids, it feels like, what the show isn’t giving us regarding characters it may make up for in story.
