Episode 6 “Brothers in Arms” Recap (With Spoilers)
The Last Person I Wanted To Die: Kyle, Zentos
Zentos, the man who trained Kyle in a former life, even after a lifetime of battles and slaying the Demon Lord, remains superior to Kyle. However, with his sword not matching the strength of his abilities, Kyle gets the upper hand once Zentos’ sword breaks in battle.
Sadly, though, forever loyal to his kingdom, Zentos refuses to submit and coerces Kyle to slay him.
It’s Not Personal, It’s Politics: King Remonas, Kyle, Princess Milena, Prince Carenas, Kilren
With Zentos removed as a threat, Princess Milena is able to use Kilren to arrest Prince Carenas and return home safely. There, King Remonas thanks and congratulates Kyle and his team, and the cover-up begins of what Zentos and Prince Carenas did. But, despite things, on the surface, seeming over, Kyle has unfinished business.
Knowing Zentos as he did, and how he loved his kingdom and was loyal to it, the question of why he would seek to kill the princess weighed on Kyle. The only answer: The King. You see, the insecure man was so worried about his daughter usurping his reputation, him just becoming her dad, that he’d rather have her killed. Then, to add onto Kyle’s reasoning, King Remonas, to have a better negotiation position, stalled helping the dwarf kingdom, which led to Zirgus eventually falling.
So, Kyle assassinates the king by pushing him off a ledge, and that gets covered up just like what Zentos and Prince Carenas did.
Wrapped Around My Finger: Kyle, Princess Milena
As shown, Princess Milena might be far kinder than her father and brother, but she understands how to play the game as well. For example, it seems she was aware of the possibility that her father tried to have her killed, but she lacked credible evidence. But, while she lacked evidence regarding what her father potentially did, she doesn’t lack what Kyle is capable of.
After all, there are too many coincidences involved with him, and he may very well reek of ambition. So, since he is so ambitious, and Milena is now the queen, she seeks him to handle a task for her. At one time, she was engaged to be married to the third prince of the Gargan Empire, Maiser Leng Gargan. It was an arranged marriage so Zirgus could absorb Karan into its territory, and Milena no longer wishes to honor this deal.
Originally, Kyle was supposed to just deliver a message. But then consideration was put into the governor of Karan not showing up when the king died. So it seems Kyle’s journey will not only be about delivering a message but also doing some level of investigation.

Highlights
Getting Political Without Getting Heavy Handed [84/100]
As shown by a recent episode of Sword of the Demon Hunter, part of establishing a show’s culture is the politics of the time. However, if not inherently a political show, there are multiple ways of handling things. Thankfully, New Saga didn’t lose the fact it is expected to be an action show as it depicted the fall of Prince Carenas, Zentos, never mind Kyle killing the king.
Which was a bit shocking, considering Kyle killed someone who was no match for him, but it also adds another layer to the show to praise: Kyle has anti-hero attributes. If he thinks it is for the greater good, he will kill, potentially anybody, to control the reins of fate.
Leading to the need to wonder, with Princess Milena, could he have put in place someone much worse than her father, or, in the future, will he do something which furthers the instability of the world, rather than enhances it?
On The Fence
The Fight Against Zentos [76/100]
While there was a level of emotion and physicality, a part of me does feel the story behind it was better than the action. Kyle was facing the person who trained him to survive to this point, and whose actions ultimately allowed Kyle to figure out that the king planned his own daughter’s assassination. But, though the battle scene had intensity, after the setup with the hydra, and even Theron’s fight, I thought we would continue to see something that could feel like each battle was going to be better than the last.
Now, again, in terms of building up the character, we have gotten that. Kyle provided himself with fighting the hydra, Theron revealed an unexpected bloodlust with his last fight, but Kyle vs. Zentos? I’m not saying an entire or even half the episode needed to be about their relationship, but I will say either we plateaued or witnessed a slight decrease based on that fight.
Overall
Our Overall Rating [80/100]
As we learn what Kyle is capable of, whether in or out of battle, especially to save humanity, it leaves you to wonder if each episode may show a different side to the lead characters as part of their development. Never mind, as Kyle makes decisions going forward, will we ever find him making the wrong one and perhaps making situations worse if not right on course for humanoid destruction?
