Storylines/ Recap
- Kyle and his crew make it to Karan, and from the start, it is clear the Gargan Empire is making moves to reassert its influence.
- To quickly counter this, he meets up with Miranda, Zirgian’s ambassador to Karan, who has been having trouble meeting up with the governor of Karan, Bax, who is allegedly bedridden.
- With Gargan’s ambassador, as well as their second-highest rank court sorcerer, Alzard Vane, also vying for an audience, this is worrisome, even if Alzard knows Kyle’s mom seems to be about easing the tension.
- But no sooner than Alzard is trying to make clear there is no need to worry, the first demon to appear since Kyle’s rebirth murders Alzard.
- Also, it should be noted that we meet Goh, who may have made the Golems that helped in The Great Invasion, and they are the son of Gazus, whom Miranda would love to appoint as governor, but he has no desire for the job.
Review and Commentary
Highlights
Finally Coming Across A Demon [85/100]
The big threat of New Saga has been demons who, for reasons not particularly known, hate humanity in all its forms. However, up until now, we’ve seen monsters, dwarves, and elves, but not demons. So, for them to show up, destroy one of the strongest magicians humanity is aware of, and do so looking bad ass?
To me, it sets a precedent. Add in that they didn’t say anything, they just destroyed him and then waited to be seen so humans could know they did it? Oh, I became way too giddy about what could come next.
A Reminder Of The Delicate Balance Kyle Has To Have [83/100]
Kyle’s knowledge of what happened in the past is a gift and a curse. Each change he makes, he has to assume is for the betterment of mankind, and those he saves, or kills, will allow for a stronger humanity, or humanoid population, for when the demons strike. But, with that in mind comes the question that will be persistent throughout the series, of when or if he’ll get something wrong?
Killing off the king was a good decision in hindsight, since he would have likely kept trying to kill his daughter. But will she truly be a good and just queen? Never mind, will this rejection of a marriage cause a civil war, and can Kyle stop it? Heck, should he stop it?
He is about to dump a lot of money into Goh and him remaking Xarles technology, but will this lead to a further understanding of why Xarles as a society ended? Could, as he feared, someone snatch up this technology and there be more harm than good? Heck, Kyle’s goal is to increase his profile, with hopes of gaining influence, but what happens if this only puts a target on his back and maybe leads to one of his friends being collateral damage?
Just theorizing all of this makes things exciting, and we wonder what ultimately will come of what we see?
Overall
Our Overall Rating [84/100]
New Saga continues to build off its premise well while not being a one-trick pony. From how it handles political matters, battles, and Kyle’s knowledge of the various people he encounters, it may not hit it out of the park with every aspect, but each instance of one of its key factors gets better and better.

Slide Text
- Intro Slide
- Recap: New Saga speeds through the journey and has Kyle’s team in Karan in no time, but as expected, things aren’t copacetic.
- Recap: The governor of Karan, Bax, is allegedly bedridden and not taking visitors, even the Zirgian ambassador Miranda and the Gargan ambassador and their second-highest-ranking court sorcerer, Alzard Vane.
- Recap: Let it be known, though, Alzard presents the idea that Gargan comes in peace, and he even notes knowing Kyle’s mom. However, Kyle’s knowledge of the past makes him hesitant.
- Recap: Especially because a kid named Goh is working on Xarles’ technology, which turned the tide during the Great Invasion, so Kyle invests in it, but he is worried about how it could be used in a humanoid civil war.
- Recap: But, before that thought can really simmer, a demon kills Alzard, and Kyle and Miranda discover him in the Gargan embassy – with the demon over Alzard’s body.

- Review: There was a serious question of when a demon would show up and how, and while the “Why?” is missing, this is still a notable introduction.
- Review: It definitely is a step up from the inter-kingdom drama over a cancelled proposal message, which was Kyle’s original assignment.
- Review: Then you have Kyle tinkering with the future through Goh, and the creation of golems, alongside the possibility of him maybe killing someone like he did the king, if he thinks there would be stability.
- Review: All of this together really just keeps you on your toes and makes New Saga feel unpredictable in the best way.
- Overall (84/100): With meeting our first demon, and taking note of what they did, things continue to look good for New Saga, and it is living up to, if not surpassing, its potential.
