Episode 11 “Runnin’ With The Devil” Recap (With Spoilers)
Interference: Hersch, Lt. Schneider
Lt. Schneider has this incessant need to undermine, if not destroy, Lazarus, and he uses the army to go after Doug and Elaina, seemingly to keep them from encountering Popcorn Wizard. Hersch catches wind of this and threatens him with revealing how he was involved in unauthorized Hapna trials, of which Axel is currently the only survivor and the doctor who did the experiment, the only witness.
Perhaps knowing they just have to wait five days, estimated, for this all to end, Lt. Schneider just holds Hersch with the charge of treason and continues to have his men, and Soryu, do what he needs to be done.
Welcome To Pakistan: Doug, Elaina, Popcorn Wizard

With a rising fever, Elaina may not have much time left, and being chased by two gunmen isn’t making things any easier. Luckily, Doug makes a way for Elaina to get to Popcorn Wizard, but he pays the price with a gnarly hit to the skull and with shooting at, and likely killing, a soldier or agent, another charge for Lt. Schneider to impose on Lazarus.
As for Elaina, while Popcorn Wizard and her meet, Elaina faints soon after and is left in Popcorn Wizard’s care.
Episode Previews Spoil Everything: Axel, Chris, Leland, Abel, Soryu
As Abel learns what Hersch did, they learn Soryu has made contact with Axel. Chris goes into action, as Leland is expected to hold down home base and Axel? Well, he is in a fight for his life. One that he could have won, as Soryu is triggered by a necklace Axel wears, which reminds him of his childhood. But, Axel is unable to take advantage of Soryu being thrown off and ends up with a harpoon going straight through his abdomen.

Yet, based on episode previews, despite the hook on that harpoon and how we were told hospitals were overwhelmed in past episodes, Axel is patched up, awake, with Chris by his side.

On The Fence
It Feels Unrealistic That Anyone Is Going To Die [74/100]
Take note, the end credits show everyone but Axel dead, but there is still a need to ask, will they actually kill anyone off? Considering all the ways Axel should have died, how Chris could have, the bullets that have flown past Leland and Doug at one time, with not a single one hitting, why should we believe Hapna will really take out most of the cast? Never mind, if previews are to be believed and Axel survives a harpoon through the abdomen, with the kind of hook we saw, to kill off other characters would make it seem their deaths were personal.

And it is because the likelihood of anyone dying feels unreal, it takes away from the danger they supposedly are in. I mean, Soryu, who killed how many men just to prove his worth, didn’t kill Axel over a damn necklace triggering old memories. It seems they will come up with whatever way is necessary to keep these characters, especially Axel, alive, so what or where is the urgency?
Overall
Our Overall Rating [74/100]
With creating a means for Axel to get away from Soryu, despite previous displays of skill, Lazarus lost one of its major, end season, means of redemption. Add in, even with five days left, still lacking the sense of urgency you’d hope for or expect, and it becomes harder and harder to imagine this ending on a high note.
