The Introduction

18-year-old Dale is considered one of the top adventurers around in Kreuz. However, during his trip out into the woods on a quest, he comes across Latina. She is a little demon girl, just old enough to be capable of speaking and use utensils, who has the marked of a banished devil. On top of that, Dale learns her likely father is dead and has long rotted away. Thus, leading to the soft-hearted Dale to decide to take care of her – at least for a day.

However, as he bonds with Latina, and is told by the innkeeper and cook, Rita and Kenneth, they’ll help take care of her, Dale decides to adopt Latina. Consequently leading to their journey through life together.

1. Was Ragu the father of Latina? In demon culture, is it normal to call your dad by their name?
2. Where is Latina’s mother?
3. Why was Latina’s family banished, and why did they also break off her horn and not just her mom or dad’s?
4. What is the general relationship between devils and humans?
5. Taking note spellcasting is devil’s language, does that mean humans learned magic from devils?

Highlights

It’s So Cute

Dale’s relationship with Latina is reminiscent of so many great partnerships. Whether we’re talking about the recent Raphtalia and Naofumi, from The Rising of the Shield Hero or Sana and Zoroku in Alice to Zouroku. For as with the two mentioned, there is this instantly cute bond which is born from the child experiencing trauma and yet finding someone who renews their faith in humanity. Mostly be them taking care of their person, giving them affection and, maybe in time, setting boundaries and expectations. The kind which, as we see them grow up, just makes their bond all the more adorable.

There Is The Potential For It To Get Dark

Considering we see the dead body of Ragu, and Dale doesn’t have a sword to cut bread, so comes the question of whether Latina may join him in time, and how she may feel about his hunting. After all, the title of the show implies he kills demons and evils, which are Latina’s people. So whether or not the show may push how that creates a conflict should be interesting.

First Impression: Positive (Watch This)

It seems increasingly rare to not have at least one “On The Fence” topic or some reason for hesitation in given an initial positive label. Yet, If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord doesn’t present any major red flags. Mind you, it isn’t so good I’d recommend it to anyone, but if you wanted to see an adventure and their younger, child-like follower get more focus than his fights, this could be the show for you.
