  1. How are you finding the characters at this point in the season? Have they grown much or if I didn’t like them initially am I unlikely to like them now? I’ve been thinking about whether I want to binge this show at the end of the season or not and at the moment I’m leaning towards just passing on it because I really didn’t enjoy either of the characters in the first two episodes.

    1. Yuzu
Yuzu’s growth mostly comes in the form of her toning it down as a character. She goes from being a very loud character, in terms of who she is compared to everyone else look wise, and just being over the top, to more mature. As she interacts with Mei more, she begins to take her decisions, Mei and herself, into more consideration to the point of losing it a bit. Luckily, Harumin sort of helps with this. Sometimes in a comical, if not ecchi way, but also in the way you expect a best friend to.

I do feel though when Matsuri, a little sister type to Yuzu, is introduced, you’ll roll your eyes a bit.

      Mei
Arguably, Mei hasn’t had growth as much as layers peeled back. Layers which come off like a button up sweater that, at the slightest feeling of a chill, being overexposed, she covers up and becomes closed off immediately.

And I think that maybe the issue if you didn’t originally like the characters. While Yuzu grows, Mei presents this very hot and cold nature which can get annoying. She goes from sexually aggressive, to the point of assault, to acting as if Yuzu doesn’t exist which pushes Yuzu to do something intimate. Then Yuzu backs away or Mei plays it off, and this weird cat and mouse game begins to include Mei’s best friend, then Yuzu’s best friend from her childhood, and now kids from another school.

Basically pushing the show into having your usual love triangle drama, paired with addressing absentee fathers, and a lot of back and forth between love, lust, indifference, and trying to downplay feelings because the two are family and women.

So, long story short, if the first two episodes left you not feeling meh but you didn’t like this show, all that watching the rest would do is probably build up more animosity for you to use to trash the show.
