The Introduction
Ray is but a simple man. In fact, he’ll come off kind of familiar. If only because the way Ray is sculpted will remind you of many a GTA lead character or a supporting one. For while, yes, he is a gangster, he is also a man with a family. Well, one who used to have a family. Now all he has is his dog Boof, daughter Britt, and brother Bruce. His wife has moved onto some man named Quintin and Ray? Well, he’s rusty. So rusty that even with Boof helping him encounter women, he just can’t seal the deal.
But hey, at least he is good at his job.
On The Fence
The Only Thing Which Makes Ray Seem Different Is His Family & Lack of Game
When it comes to the gangster side of Ray, a lot of what he does seems generic. His main contact is at a strip club, he hurts people and takes their money, likes driving a fast car, and has to help his idiot friends out of messes they make. You get why there is a GTA
Yet, I can’t say the generic quality of Ray’s gangster life is balanced out by his personal life.
First Impression: Mixed (Stick Around)
If Ray’s life as a gangster picks up with more interesting peers or jobs, this could become a series to watch. However, dealing with collecting money, teaching people who can’t handle his boss’ money a lesson, and Ray just generally feeling like someone who doesn’t do the life-threatening work? That might not be enough. For while seeing this thug hang with his brother and daughter, struggle with dating, and feeling lonely is weird, in a good way, I can’t say that is going to make this something to watch. At least week to week. Even with the iffy gangster side of Ray’s life, Mr. Inbetween comes off bingeable.
