Recap
Uchimura finds himself not having to negotiate with a foreign entity in this episode but rather does as he did in the last and aims to impress one of his other commanders. In this case, it is Gnome, but rather than seek out Gnome as he had to Sylphid, he finds her in the Castle Town market.
She was shopping for a holiday known as Ruuya, as Ulmandra and Uchimura checked out the shops, and Ulmandra kept fantasizing about this all being a date. Gnome was stopped by demi-humans who were bamboozled and in desperate need of help since they made a massive amount of food known as “chimozu.” Uchimura explains that chimozu is similar to mochi, so it doesn’t have a long shelf life, a day at most, but like Gim, it is cheap.
But what messes things up for the two demi-humans is that chimozu is considered an old person’s food, and even the two shop owners don’t eat it that much. So, Uchimura decides to use a repositioning technique to make chimozu into a holiday treat. Using the story Gnome tells him, he makes chimozu out to be something you share with a loved one and make a wish.
Now, with the people taking to the story, Uchimura has not only helped the couple but sees the potential of spreading the holiday around, franchising, and using that to gather information. But, before Uchimura’s spy network dreams could come true, he is tasked with negotiating once again, this time with the Golden Country, and what he’ll be trading is the Rosemarin Sylphid just invented.
Uchimura questions this because Rosemarin is a major weapon, but the Demon Lord has such faith in his generals, he sees them as too far ahead to be caught up to and Rosemarin the perfect tool to bring money to his kingdom and advertise their might off the battlefield.
Review
Trajectory (81/100): Plateau
Honestly, minus the utter lack of desire to see Ulmandra and Uchimura together, “Headhunted To Another World: From Salaryman To Big Four” might be one of the most consistent shows, animated or live-action, this season. Uchimura’s digestible way of presenting business concepts continues to be an interesting angle/hook, and the way it is used to help build out the world of the show is admirable.
Now, it is still an adjustment to see a country ruled by the Demon Lord where there isn’t war? Yes. But that only adds onto how this show is different and why we find ourselves coming back again and again.
