Recap

Uchimura is getting comfortable in his position, especially with being given a rather large office, which makes him want to get to know his peers like Sylphid and Gnome better. Yes, they rejected him as Ulmandra did, but he would like to believe he has proven himself.

Unfortunately, Sylphid is unavailable, and only their underling Belinda is there, so no inroads are made there. However, Gnome, while still having issues with Ulmandra, is willing to work with Uchimura, and they even appreciate him coming to them as he approaches working with Ogure, lord of the Ogres, regarding an alliance.

Now, like with the minotaurs, this is no easy task, especially because Ogure’s alliances are similar to the Demon Lord’s. However, his Achilles heel, in his daughter Olulu, confirms Uchimura’s suspicion that the Ogres and their allies aren’t doing that well.

Uchimura, showing what can be perceived as a darker side, uses this to undercut Ogure’s power and start siphoning away his allies. But ultimately, humbled and forced to accept that he is getting older, weaker, and less efficient as a leader, Ogure allows for an alliance. Then, with the Demon Lord allowing autonomy for those annexed or allied, it seems all parties will be happy.

Well, except for Ulmandra. The closer she gets to Uchimura, the more upset she gets when he doesn’t seem to realize his effect on her, never mind the closeness he has with demi-humans – like Olulu, who he makes his first staff appointment.

This hopefully will lead to, as hinted at, Uchimura working on the risks involved with all these large mergers, especially as it becomes clear internal issues already exist.

Gnome (Nene Hieda)

Know leads the Demon Lord’s demi-human armies, and while they objected to Uchimura’s ascension originally, they have become one of his allies. However, both their and their clans hate for demons could complicate things in the future.

Belinda (Hoshino Takanori)

Belinda is Sylphid’s representative.

Ogure (Komura Tetsuo)

Ogure is the leader of the Ogre clan who, while known for being formidable and to some invincible, age, lack of succession, organization, and more, has plagued his clan and its allies in ways that have opened them up to the need of partnership.

Olulu (Morinaga Chitose)

Olulu is Ogure’s daughter, possibly only child, who becomes a key in Uchimura making a deal to forge an alliance between the demon army and the Ogre’s army.

Review

Trajectory (85/100): Climbing

Without taking a business class, it is hard to say how accurate Uchimura’s take on how to negotiate, rather through appeasement or undercutting, is an accurate way to get things done. However, with lacking the knowledge, what he says and does appears to make sense and it almost feels like the best kind of edu-tainment.

How to take down or influence a large company similar to yours? Don’t focus on the parent company but those which make up the parent company. Take note of the conditions, and whether it is truly a competitor in all ways, or it just has the legacy. To say I’m anything less than impressed with a show that seemingly would be about shots of Ulmandra’s breasts for a little too long, which it does do, is a understatement.

Add in the infighting that is hinted to, and it seems we may not just get merger and acquisition conversations, but truly a semi-class in how to be a manager, do business, and make alliances, one way or another.
