Storyline Recap
Passing Of The Torch – Ya-ya, Lulu, Egg, Gracie, Eve
In the stand-off between Gracie and Eve, even with Gracie embracing being the Dragon Queen again, she loses. A push onto a branch impales Gracie and while she may curse Eve, and her curse gets fulfilled, she still dies.
But, before moving on, she visits her grandmother to say goodbye, visits Egg to let him know he does have a soul, and she knows it based on him singing, and speaks to Lulu, who Ya-Ya is mentoring to enhance her already burgeoning abilities.
You Can’t Always Get What You Want – Yancy, Eve, Nick, Neville, Clasper
It’s been made clear many times that when it comes to Yancy and a case, he is like a dog with a bone, and he won’t let go until he solves what happened. Unfortunately, even with Neville and Clasper, Eve and Nick were always a step ahead.
Eve, in particular, was tricky because she was willing to go beyond Yancy’s limits. She is the Joker to his Batman, and her killing Nick when he was no longer useful shows her desperation. Yancy tried to match that by holding onto a tether as she tried to escape Andros, but as he heard everyone in his life say for him to let go, he did just that and decided to let fate handle this situation.
The Silver Lining – Rosa, Ro, Yancy, Eve, Madeline, Pestov, Mel, Clasper, Bonnie
While you’d think letting go would mean Yancy’s life taking a turn for the better, for the most part, you’d be wrong. The one silver lining of all this is that, after all Bonnie and Yancy did, they made the price of the home next door so cheap that Madeline and Pestov decided to buy it, and they plan to level the mini-mansion into a home more befitting of the neighborhood. Also, speaking of Bonnie, Yancy gets a call from her, which is cordial and comical as usual, and then Rosa shows up to have goodbye sex with Yancy.
Now, the sex was nice, obviously, but with Rosa really off her need to be perfect and wanting to find herself, it seems she realizes that has to be a solo journey. As much as experiencing Yancy and his world was a catalyst, she doesn’t want her life to mirror the one he chose. She needs something that is all her own. But don’t feel too bad for Yancy since Ro offers him a distraction with a new case.
This isn’t to say Rosa and Yancy aren’t a match, but it could just be bad timing. This cannot be said for Mel and Clasper since, between Rosa and Yancy, they meet and both seem to mesh so well with one another that it is like they’ve been together forever. I’d even expect them to get married and be what leads to Yancy and Rosa reuniting.
Oh, and when it comes to Eve, Gracie’s curse comes true, and due to choking on a baby carrot, she trips and falls to her death – with her dog licking up her blood.
New Character Descriptions
Amina Massai As Lulu
Lulu is Dawnie’s daughter, who Yaya senses has magic in her, and so she decides to, when Gracie loses her way, to begin mentoring her.
Question(s) Left Unanswered
- With Eve and Nick dead, should we assume the government of Andros inherited all their property since I doubt Caitlin did.
- How come Jim wasn’t the narrator?
- What’s with people having weird things in their trunk? Is that a Florida thing?
- Gracie noted to Lulu if she follows Yaya, she’ll be a queen, which leads to the question of why Gracie was the “Dragon” Queen? Also, when Yaya was the more active force, what type of Queen was she?
What Could Happen Next?
- Yancy is dragged into another wild case, with Ro being a catalyst, and we watch his need and obsession for justice lead to meeting more eccentric Floridians and him coming close to getting his badge back until he does something against Sonny’s wishes.

On The Fence
The Ending Felt Lackluster
Did Nick and Eve meet their fates, and their storylines come to an end? Yes. However, Yancy does not bring them to justice; instead, Eve killed Nick and then dies in a comical way – That was a bit disappointing. Add Rosa breaking up with Yancy, and whether they’ll reunite is questionable. A part of me understands them wrapping up this season the way they did in case it didn’t get a season 2, but it all felt like the most lackluster decisions were taken.
Now, after all that has happened, it can make sense that things ended on a bleak note with the vibe that makes it seem like this was just another chapter in Yancy’s life. But, at the same time, with the build the show had to the finale, having the characters who made the show either killed off, Yancy seduced into another case, and the meh characters thriving? I know life isn’t fair, and this reflects that, but damn.
