Incision (2024) Movie Review

“Incision” seems to forget to give you reasons to get invested, beyond familiar faces and the assumed empathy for people being victimized.

Highlights

Gia

While Parker McKenna Posey presents the same kind of crazy you often get in thrillers starring Black people, there is no denying her madness is fun to watch. In some ways, it gives you a Harley Quinn-type performance and ultimately makes her the only notable villain of the film.

On The Fence

London’s Storyline

The main issue with London’s Storyline is the challenge of getting invested. You don’t know Crystal or get to know her, so why would you care about Crystal? London might be a protagonist, but what’s her draw beyond the audience’s likely knowing who Brandee Evans is due to “P-Valley?” Almost everything about London is very run-of-the-mill, down to a guy liking her who she doesn’t have time for.

Sequel Possibilities

While “Incision” is a complete film, it leaves the comeuppance for a few postponed and while it doesn’t beg for a sequel, it leaves the door open. But, even with the players who would be involved, there isn’t any real reason to stretch out an already average movie, with a forgettable story, another 90 minutes.

Yes, there is more violence and corruption that could be produced, but even if a lot of sequels improve on the original, there is a need to ask if anyone knows what was missing from the first outing?
