Is It Dumb Luck Or Good Luck?: Regina, Louis
Louis’ infatuation with Regina hasn’t gone unnoticed, and with him revealing he is gay, and Regina knowing he is rich, comes the question: Why the interest? Well, being transparent, Louis directs Regina to Daniel’s book, and she freaks out a bit at first.
However, with having debts, a record, a shoddy living situation, and a dead-end job, she is willing to make a deal. She’ll be Louis’ Claudia for the price of half a million dollars. Which it seems Louis is more than happy to agree to.
Attempts At Reconciliation: Armand, Alex, Daniel, Lestat

As shown in the last episode, Armand is in some form of group therapy/accountability where there are steps involved. For Alex, Armand doesn’t seem that bad, and could be key to why he rejoined the band. However, when it comes to Daniel and Lestat, they still can’t really stand him.
For Daniel, it is because he was abandoned with this curse of people disappearing, but he still hears them at times. To which Armand is of no help, stopping the issue, and despite his speech, Daniel seems unwilling to reconcile at this time.
Lestat? He has long been bored with Armand, and his apology might be poetic, but it isn’t entertaining. So, for wasting his time and telling him to stop performing, and breaking the Vampiric Laws, Lestat exposes him at one of his shows, and makes fun of him. Leaving Armand as lonely and alone as he ever was.
Am I Not Enough?: Lestat, Sofia
A feeling far too familiar for Lestat as he longs for Sofia, but she has disappeared on him. It was only 9 days, but lest we forget, in a world which seems to either love or hate Lestat, his mother is one of the few he cares about. He wants her to love him, but she doesn’t show it the way he wants or needs. It was like that hundreds of years ago, when she abandoned him, chose other men over him, and it has barely changed now.
But, in her defense, she has been following, seeking the voices. Not just those who clamor for Lestat, be it his leadership or death, but perhaps other voices as well. For like her son, Sofia doesn’t do well being bored. Heck, she might be worse than Lestat. So, it is made clear, despite an assassination attempt, if he wants her around, he has to continue touring. Likely because the destruction and chaos he is sowing is what will keep her around.
Review and Commentary
Highlights
Regina and Louis [84/100]

What’s interesting here is that Regina’s true self is known to Louis. She is a con-artist, a thief, and yet he sees good in her, and it seems, in some way, it makes her see something good in herself. But at the same time, she is still a young woman with one of the richest men in the world, somewhere within the top 600, obsessed with her.
How she plays this is going to be interesting. As of now, she is committed to pretending to be Claudia. But what will happen when she likely stumbles, or even triggers Louis, and then there is his reaction. What about long-term? Will he kill her, will he turn her, or will he allow her to grow old and die?
It’s interesting to not know for sure if a storyline like this will turn tragic, or maybe end happily, as maybe both deserve. But that is the draw here, for you know it isn’t going to be smooth sailing for both. However, with Louis always longing for family in ways his lovers seemingly were unable to offer, maybe he may finally get what he has wanted?
Almost Feeling Bad For Armand [85/100]
In many ways, to feel something for Louis should make you capable of feeling something for Armand. Like him, you can sense this longing, but I think for Armand the issue is, as much as he wants family like Louis, he also wants prestige like Lestat. But, unlike Lestat, he lacks charm or the ability to really seduce someone. So, he just seems like a sad orphaned child.
One who almost comes off like he is begging to belong and with seeing him get rejected over and over, it does hit a bit harder than expected. That’s why, when Lestat was talking about Armand, on stage, in even the slightest positive light, I had hopes maybe they could have some form of reconciliation. After all, their history goes back centuries.
But once he started to bully him, there was this real feeling of heartbreak. For while there are others Armand can go to on this tour of amends, I feel like he started with his favorites. Leaving you to wonder, when he sees Louis, especially with Regina, what will his reaction be?
On The Fence
Still Being Very Meh on Sofia [74/100]

I maintain the feeling that Sofia has overstayed her welcome. Yes, I understand how much she is key to a lot of Lestat’s issues and that not just talking about it, but depicting it is important. But, I feel like the luster has worn off and that, at best, her personality is an opening, a placeholder, for Akasha. Who hopefully won’t wait until the season finale to appear.
Overall
Our Overall Rating [81/100]
As emotions run high, beyond just violence, we’re reminded that vampires have feelings too. We also see the challenge of living so long with the curse of human suffering. That is, the ability to be petty for decades, if not centuries. Have abandonment issues that never subside – and a longing for the dead that never can go away.
Leaving you with an episode that won’t make you cry, but perhaps can catch you off guard. Especially considering the show leans more towards being dramatic for entertainment’s sake than reminding you that, in some ways, a lot of the lead characters are still human.
