We’re Just Trying To Be Friendly – Roberta, Beverly, Leanne

With Roberta and Beverly being new to the household, they make an effort to be of assistance to Dorothy and available to everyone else as well. Leanne, naturally, doesn’t like this as they go through her room, touch and organize her things, including her underwear, and just make her feel disturbed. For, of course, she assumes they are part of the Church of Lesser Saints.

Beyond Leanne, it is clear to Beverly and Roberta that a lot is going on, and with Sean willing to reveal coping in the family is an issue, not the problem of Leanne and all that she brings to the table, a séance is presented as a good idea. Now, being that Dorothy is willing to try anything, she is down for this, but Leanne initially is not. Of course, Julian joins in since he has an aversion to all things occult, but throughout the ceremony, Dorothy is convinced.

So, with that in mind, Leanne plops down the weapon she used on Aunt Josephine from the tail end of season 2, and asks Roberta to channel the energy or spirit that weapon can conjure. Highly confused, Roberta isn’t sure what Leanne particularly wants from their interaction. And the more Roberta doesn’t respond the way Leanne wants, the more aggressive she gets, until she rips off Robert’s clothes, hoping to expose her but only ending up looking crazy.

Things To Note

Question(s) Left Unanswered

  1. While Bobbie is in the clear, what about Beverly?
  2. Why are we just hearing about this apartment?

What Could Happen Next

  1. We learn Leanne is the reason Dorothy can’t walk

Highlights

Leanne On Edge

Leanne struggling with when and where she’ll be attacked brings some sense of urgency to this episode. It doesn’t necessarily solve the issue of making this feel like a final, noteworthy season, but at the very least, there is a reason to believe that the show hasn’t forgotten there is a major threat out there Leanne has to be worried about.

Overall
While "Servant" remains in a state of you waiting for something to happen to justify your investment, seeing Leanne act irrationally does lessen the feeling of thinking we're wasting time.
