Recap

Just Here, Naked And Stuff – Geese, Rudy

In what looks like a birdcage, Rudy is held, and for some reason, he is forced to be naked. There is no rhyme or reason, but he is stuck, for several days, with everything hanging all out. This is sort of weird, considering another prisoner, Geese, who shows up days later, isn’t stripped down. But, with Rudy touching a sacred beast, maybe this is his specific punishment?

You may wonder, with all the magic Rudy can do without a staff, why not escape? Well, because he has no idea where he is to know how to escape, and he expects the members of Dead End to rescue him soon. However, when the forest is set on fire by smugglers, which include Gallus, Rudy and Geese make their way towards the forest floor, and rather than beat it, they face the smugglers.

Well, more so Geese does as Rudy causes rain and win to end the forest fire and allow those like Gyes to clearly smell the smugglers. This leads to Gallus offering Rudy a chance to switch sides, but instead, Rudy puts up a fight in which the legendary beast and him tag team. Which, ultimately, leads to Rudy getting a notable injury from a dagger in the leg, but Gallus being killed – even with him being highly proficient in North God style.

Where Have You Been? – Rudy, Ruijerd, Eris, Chieftian Gustav, Sauros

After the battle, Rudy passes out and awakens to find Eris, Ruijerd, and the village’s chieftain before him. It is there he gets an apology and gets some form of normalcy to return. However, we see back home that normalcy is exiting the world he knew as Sauros is executed for mishandling the event that led to Eris and Rudy ending up on the demon continent. Likely more for political reasons than anything else.

Things To Note

  • Character Guide Update (Gallus): Proficient in North God Style, and known as “The North Saint – Gallus ‘The Cleaner'”

Question(s) Left Unanswered

  1. What was with that position Gyes and his partner were in?

What Could Happen Next

  1. Based on the next episode’s title, it seems we’ll be sticking around the village.
  2. Political upheaval back in Fottia will make it so Rudy and Eris will probably feel like nomads without a home.

Highlights

The Sarcastic Opening

Humor is not a common thing I find in most anime. Mainly it is because we don’t watch shows that are just comedies. But, also, even for those which do lean more towards being funny, we don’t laugh. Rudy talking about his cage, however, was probably the funniest thing I’ve seen in an anime in a very long time.

The Battle

I was shocked at how mesmerizing Rudy vs. Gallus was since I don’t associate this show with top-notch action. Comedic moments, which often have ecchi involved? Yes. A notable amount of lore and character development? Yup. But while we’ve seen many a fight and display of power, rarely is there a true back and forth fight, and seeing Rudy in one was amazing and top-tier entertainment. Not to forget, it also speaks a lot to his training since, formerly, he would have easily been overwhelmed by someone like Gallus.

Trajectory: Plateau
With a new location and an exciting battle, Jobless Reincarnation gives you what you expect in terms of fleshing out where Rudy is, a tad of ecchi, and a surprising element that reminds you this show is more than some may perceive.
