Can’t Blame A Guy For Trying – Ms. Perry-Geller, Josh
Josh might be striking out left and right, but at least he is still trying. The latest person he tries to date is the art teacher for his class, Ms. Perry-Geller. However, she ultimately doesn’t show up to the party Josh goes to, so that will be awkward next time she comes to do a project in his class.
Do You Really Care? – Dax, Josh, Victor
While Ms. Perry-Geller doesn’t show up, that doesn’t mean Josh doesn’t end up having a fun time. With one of Megan’s friends, Dax, he and Victor go to a Halloween party, and while things start off slow and a tad boring, things do get weird and dramatic. Because of this, the awkwardness which is Josh’s life, including being insensitive to Victor and getting called out by Dax, becomes the three becoming like musketeers!
Which makes the fact Dax dies within a few hours of them parting quite unfortunate. Josh could use new friends that give him the opportunity to socialize.

The Validation of Numbers
A lot of what happens in this episode doesn’t add too much, beyond Dax’s death setting up Megan’s, in person, introduction. However, Dax’s speech about being of or around 30, seeking validation, feeling like he has no friends, yet somewhat has connections? It’s a real thing. And it really does make it seem like Mr. Corman wants to find a way to really cement itself as the voice for those who recognize their youth is fleeting. That and the only thing they have to show from what they did in their 20s is a job they hate. As for their personal life? It’s borderline non-existent when they really put it under a microscope – or are real with themselves.
So, to compensate, they focus on productivity, numbers, and things which feel like it could justify their existence. Even when, in reality, they are still replaceable, and as much as they may think they are doing something special or different that can’t be duplicated, that isn’t true. Those people, that audience that you think you have, they’ll find someone new and all the parties you throw or whatever your output is, they’ll head over to that.
