The Introduction

Dhruv and Kavya are a young couple. Neither rich, neither poor, but certainly not living the lives their associates seem to be living. A fun day for them would just be playing air hockey, watching Inside/ Out and some pizza. Which may seem simple, perhaps boring, too many, but it seems that, as long as they have each other, it is the best thing either can ask for.

Question(s) Left Unanswered

  1. Are they married or just dating?

Highlights

They Make An Adorable Couple

Dhruv and Kavya sleeping.

The personality dynamic of the almost teenager-like Kavya and the more serious, Dhruv makes for an adorable match. Especially since Dhruv’s seriousness kind of feels like a front. Granted, he seems less decisive than Kavya, but with him crying like a baby during Inside/ Out and flipping out over a football match, he shows there are times he isn’t the mature one in the relationship.

Perhaps pushing you to ask what Kavya brings, besides being adorable? Well, probably because she pushes Dhruv to have fun. Now, it is noted, sometimes her fun, especially if it deals with spending money, is wasteful. However, it’s not hard to imagine that a Dhruv without Kavya would be a sad and lonely man. One who may have football but not much else to make life worth living.

On The Fence

I’m Hoping For Some Backstory

One of the things you have to like is we’re dropped into this relationship after the honeymoon stage. They aren’t lovey-dovey in such a way you question if one fight may end everything. Instead, they are co-habituating, clearly have ways that get on the other person’s nerves, and yet still are very much in love.

However, with being dropped at this stage, and considering how different these two are, it leads to some questions. First and foremost, are these two married or simply dating? Also, how did they meet? Not to sound ignorant, but was this an arranged marriage and if it was, how did their parents decide the other person was good enough for their child?

Kavya having FOMO.
Kavya (Mithila Palkar): Everyone is going out to places and we’re sitting here.

For after seeing Meet The Patels, I must admit, even if fiction, I’m very interested in seeing how that works. Particularly since, in America, arranged marriages are far from the norm. I’ve met people in them, and they seem happy, but you can’t dig deep into someone’s marriage and how that came to be. That’s just rude.

Hence the desire to know what is going on here.

First Impression: Positive (Watch This)

These two are too adorable to just watch one episode of and that be it. Thus explaining why Netflix picked this up for a second season for their platform. Not just for the sake of a more diverse portfolio but because the need to binge is strong with this show.
