Let’s Try This Again: Alex, McKenna, Violet, Trey
As Trey looks for Henry, to no avail, Violet convinces everyone to play Light As A Feather again. This time, it is with the idea that Jennie playing means her absorbing the darkness. Something she appears to do, but not completely.

Don’t Stop Me Now: Violet, Alex, McKenna, Deb, Trey
With Violet finally seeing how McKenna dies, she tries to complete the game, which would leave just her and Alex left. However, Alex knocks her over and after a short back and forth, Violet knocks her out. From there, she puts her in a closet and McKenna in a body bag.
Unfortunately for Violet, no sooner does she escape does a cop find her and Deb, thanks to tracking her daughter, frees Alex and revive McKenna – who stopped breathing.
Commentary
Let’s just back up real quick. One of the reasons Trey was sent to find Henry is so he wouldn’t get cursed and McKenna sealed it with a kiss. Now, taking note of the last episode, when McKenna was really into Henry, can someone explain why she was able to so easily transition to Trey? Was it simply because the fantasy was fulfilled but her thing with Trey is real?

Also, what happened to Alex’s little boo thang from the dance? You telling me, with the Alex we know, she didn’t call once? There was no, “Hey, what’s up?” or none of that? Seriously?
Then, in terms of the end of the curse, how is a dead person going to play a game? I get the idea of a split soul, but this “darkness” surely can tell the difference between a living girl, McKenna, and her long-dead sister right? Pushing the thought, what even is this darkness? Where did it come from and who did it infect to begin the first game? Much less, who started to play this game as just a silly thing until they realized it was real?
5 Weeks Later: Trey, Alex, Violet, McKenna
It’s about time for winter break and at this point, it is still unclear where Lena and Henry are. However, Isaac is doing better. Also, Trey and McKenna are going strong. However, even with things relatively good, McKenna just can’t let her belief that Violet knows more go so she visits her and brings that mystery key. And after some pleasantries, and Violet thanking McKenna for saving her life, McKenna brings out that key and says she’ll hold onto it. Teasing that Violet has to be forward to get the key. Problem is, keeping the key seemingly causes that darkness to grow into McKenna’s back. That or Jennie wasn’t able to contain it anymore.

Commentary
I just, it’s just… urgh. You can foresee what can be done for a second season but could it even be good? It would have to dive deeper into the whole darkness thing but the introduction to that doesn’t even illicit much interest. So can you imagine explaining it is a demon or a curse passed down because someone was ostracized, or something like that? All the while dealing with the same characters who could barely keep one season interesting. Never mind going into a second one.
I don’t know about you, but I think this might be a one season only show for me. There were moments I wanted to believe it could get better. That maybe Violet’s sarcasm would see us through, but those days are gone. Bless those who continue with this story.
Criticism
- It being clear there is a call for a second season, even though it really didn’t give much of a reason to have one. Which I say taking note of the missing Henry and Lena situation. Alongside McKenna now having the darkness.
