Recap

How It Started – Margherita, Carlo

Despite how it seemed before, Carlo wasn’t jogging when Margherita chased after him. What the truth is, they happened to be in the same café, exchanging glances periodically, and Carlo left his phone, so Margherita chased after him, fell, and ended up in the hospital. Later on, he called his phone, tracked her down, and so began their love affair.

How It Ends – Andrea, Sofia, Margherita, Carlo, Anna, Giulia, Marco

However, a year after the events of episode 5, both Carlo and Margherita divorced and even moved on from their lovers that tore the fabric of their marriage. Mind you, they are still friends with them, as shown by Margherita running with Andrea and Carlo, both Sofia’s editor for her first book and still one of her confidants. But, whatever romance and lust was once there, is now simply a platonic love.

Yet, when it comes to Anna, Giulia, and Marco, it seems there is still some hope alive. Mind you, Margherita is now dating the painter she met at one of Giulia’s gallery opening and Carlo? Well, from what we’re told, he may have flings, but relationships evade him. But, still, something remains, and on the day Sofia’s book premieres, Margherita’s interior architecture shop opens, and both check out each other’s event.

Mind you, Margherita doesn’t make herself known as Carlo and Sofia’s event, but Carlo does make himself known. Thus leading to that rare, almost fantasy known as closure for both.

Question(s) Left Unanswered

  1. What led to things ending with Andrea and Sofia, respectively?

What Could Happen Next

  1. Hopefully, Carlo figures out why he can’t keep a relationship.

It Was An Okay Ending

Did Devotion end on a high note? Not at all. Yet, it did end better than expected. Margherita and Carlo got closure, and I would say viewers did as well. No one was necessarily left happy, just content, and considering the direction this show was going for quite some time, this ended better than expected.

Overall
Devotion ends on a bit of a whimper, with very little reason to want more, but maybe that should be seen as a good thing?
