After speaking with Takeda, Yuma decides to confess her feelings to Hotaru. However, considering who Hotaru is, does she even desire a serious relationship?

Why Don’t You Say Something?: Takeda, Fujiwara, Hotaru, Yuma

Being that Takeda and Yuma are back on good terms, she apologizes about their relationship and he tries to be understanding. He figures there was someone else she might have been into and she admits there were some complications. She doesn’t allow him to believe it is Hotaru, but hopefully, the boy isn’t as naïve as he lets on.

Anyway, as they continue to talk, Yuma starts expressing how Hotaru makes her feel. Be it the feeling of being strung along, second guessing things, worrying a lot about them, and Takeda notes that is how she made him feel. Also, what she may be feeling is love. An odd idea to Yuma, but she sort of sees where Takeda is coming from. However, when he mentions noting how she feels about Hotaru, that becomes a laughable idea.

Yet she does it. If only because, like us, it seems she is tired of the back and forth so, with some hesitation, she confesses to Hotaru. Problem is, either it goes over Hotaru’s head what Yuma is confessing or she disregards it. Either way, with that confession, comes Hotaru pulling away more and spending an increasing amount of time with Fujiwara. Someone who, at the end of the episode, Yuma discovers over Hotaru after striking her – again.

Highlights

A Few Steps Forward

According to anilist, this is the penultimate episode. The next one is the finale. So I can only hope Yuma confessing pushes things to the point she can maybe breakthrough to Hotaru. For I’m of the opinion that because of the relationships Hotaru has had, she only understands love through lust. Hence why when Yuma confesses, she doesn’t take it as a heartfelt, I love you, enjoy being with you, and etc. To her, it may just mean I enjoy messing around with you and nothing more.

Yet, a part of me thinks, as she spoke about them being girlfriends, that might have been when she, for but a moment, played with the idea of her and Yuma being together. However, then she realized who she was, the life she has lived, and felt undeserving. Thus leading her to say Yuma and Takeda should get back together.

On The Fence

Fujiwara

Fujiwara hit Hotaru so hard that Yuma heard it through the wall.

I need to understand why in the hell he hates women, especially to the point of beating poor Hotaru. For while understanding won’t lead me to justify his actions, I’d hate for him to be a villain for the sake of having a villain. Mostly because, Netsuzou Trap, when it wants to, can be much deeper than it appears. However, it just seems to be unwilling sometimes to not give into people’s preconceived notions.

Which, come to think of it, might just be why Hotaru is the way she is. It is easier to be the girl who is desired, inspires lust, and is willing to give in, vs. the hard work it takes for a relationship. Hence why Hotaru perhaps stays with Fujiwara. She knows he never would want a relationship so she doesn’t have to worry about trying to meet her partner’s expectations, worry about disappointing them, or any of the emotional labor she has no experience in. Perhaps may not even want to have experience in.
