Robbing The Rich To Give To The Poor: Nagayuki, Takeyasu

Juni Taisen (Zodiac War) Season 1 Episode 8 In Like a Dragon, Out Like a Snake (Part 2)

It has long been questioned of why the brothers were chosen for the Juni Taisen when they seem the least noteworthy, and this episode doesn’t help much. For while Nagayuki stands trial, and acts as counsel, for himself and his brother, the charges don’t inspire you to think, “Woah, what a bad ass!”

Instead, there is this feign attempt to show them as more complicated than they seem. Be it noting how Takeyasu likes reptiles or how often the boys rob the rich to give to the poor. Yet, usually following money being given to the poor, said people being robbed, hurt, or killed. Heck, sometimes by the twins themselves.

And as Takeyasu notes, just the idea of the trial is ridiculous. You are talking about the lack of goodness in warriors? About how much they destroy and killing innocent civilians? Outside of Sharyu, who amongst the warriors aren’t hired to participate in war crimes? Making the whole trial storyline seem a bit ridiculous for it ultimately just didn’t bring about any depth to these boys. They are just as bored with life as some surely are bored with them.

The Last Tag Team Match of the Tsumita Twins: Tora, Ushii, Nagayuki, Takeyasu

Ushii finds a way to free himself and Tora and it seems, at least temporarily, they plan to join forces to finish off Takeyasu’s corpse. Of which, they learn only fire can defeat the magic of Usagi. For what is burned cannot come back to life. Hence why Uuma didn’t end up part of Usagi’s friends. Him dying in a fire made him no longer an option 🙁

Juni Taisen (Zodiac War) Season 1 Episode 8 In Like a Dragon, Out Like a Snake (Part 2) - Nagayuki

But, it seems with Takeyasu’s corpse really posing a challenge, the somehow levitating Nagayuki sees this as the opportunity to once more join forces with his brother. Making it so he could take out on the strongest players and arguably the one underdog who has proven herself worthy of being bet on.

Other Noteworthy Facts & Moments

  • Takeyasu was so into reptiles he even had a popular blog with a lot of followers.

On The Fence

They Could Have Made The Twins Interesting

You know, there was a moment I was kind of digging the twins to a point. As if they may have been for chaos and destruction, but there was still a bit of heart there. Like with how maybe they felt a certain type of way about how the Atari Pharmaceutical company, and their partners in recruitment, took advantage of orphans so they screwed both sides for fun. In that, it was like having a sort of anti-hero character in the show again. Someone you may not like all of the time, but they have a silver lining.

But then they got stripped of that and just became mindless killers. Ones who may have gave money away but with us quickly getting reminded how the poor usually end up losing it, sometimes with their lives, so ended the investment as quickly as it was gained. Leaving us once more without anyone to really root for. Just the question of who is going to survive without much of a reason to invest in fighting about it.
