The Social Experiment: Dr. Metcalf
As has been made clear, Dr. Metcalf is a very strange fellow. One who seems to have no issue disrupting the school day with what I’m sure the average parent would consider nonsense. Even if, like his experiment to show everyone should treat each other as equals, does hit its target.
Holding Hands: Andi, Jonah, Buffy, Cyrus
Before and after Dr. Metcalf’s experiment, Andi’s mind is on one thing: holding Jonah’s hand. Though they are together, they aren’t doing the most basic of things… why is that? Well, being that Buffy isn’t about that old school nonsense of, “The boy has to take the lead” she tells Andi to just take the boy’s hand. As for Cyrus? Well, he just makes Andi nervous about the idea through pushing that maybe she gets sweaty palms.
But in truth, it is Jonah who gets sweaty palms and ends up, in the long run asking for Andi’s hands. Thus giving her something to be happy about before the bomb Bex and Bowie drop on her.

Despite Bex’s denial, the house, and Andi Shack, are on the market with an open house in days. Something CeCe is still pretty adamant about not revealing to Andi. After all, part of a mom’s job is breaking bad news to her kid. Luckily for Bex though, Bowie really comes through when it deals with co-parenting is right by her side when the news is broken. One which leads to Andi not necessarily having a fit, but having a rare moment of her acting like an actual teenager.
Which makes you wonder, if this is how Andi acts with the messenger, can you imagine how she is going to act when she sees Celia and Ham next?

Highlights
Progressing Relationships
Taking into consideration what is going to happen in the next episode with Andi and Buffy going on a date, those two holding hands was just a taste of what’s to come. Something which I’m excited to see – mostly for Buffy. Not that Andi and Jonah aren’t cute, but they have this “We’re the leads, so of course we’re together!” kind of relationship. Which has gotten better, especially with Jonah complimenting Andi and taking note of how awesome of a girl she is.
However, Buffy and Marty? That is where the heat is, for a lack of a better term. Their competitiveness, their friendship, Buffy talking about “What this is” makes that relationship something of interest since Andi’s party. Now the only question is, with Buffy knowing herself so well, does she perhaps like-like Marty, maybe not feel ready for a relationship, or could it be he says something stupid and whatever feelings she has gets put into an unmarked grave?

The After School Special
Honestly, every once in a while it should be expected that either some overdone message or eye roll worthy comedic moment will happen on Andi Mack. For this episode, it was the return of Dr. Metcalf and his usual nonsense. It is just this time, rather than sexualizing kids who are barely teenagers, he decides to instead pit them against each other in ways that he should be thankful didn’t turn out bad. For the amount of time that food fight was allowed to happen, imagine if someone said something slick? I know it is the suburbs and it is assumed these kids wouldn’t get violent, but picture Buffy, after the dodgeball incident, decided to hurl a cookie, or something else, and someone got hurt? What if, during the food fight, a kid slipped and busted their head or the dozens of others things which could have happened?
I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want my kids to be part of some social experiment without me knowing ahead of time. Treating these kids like some damn lab rats.
