Things begin to get interesting as Kato’s past and blood test arrive and Inspector Schneider finds herself at the Hotel Beau Séjour.

Episode Focus: Wild Goose Chase (Inspector Schneider, Inspector Vinken, Charlie, Jef, and Kato)

With Inspector Vinken destroying/hiding evidence and making sure he is unavailable to Inspector Schneider, needless to say, she is getting quite frustrated with him. Though, if anything, she is getting frustrated with the case since her boss, Mr. Vercammen doesn’t want news headlines making them look incompetent. He wants headlines saying the case was solved.

However, with Schneider heavily relying on local help, of which Vinken isn’t providing since he is working on the hotel with his sister Melanie, and his team seemingly in cahoots with keeping the feds from the hotel, she is getting nowhere. That is, until Charlie decides to plant seeds into Jef’s head to create images which bloom. These images, planted thanks to information from Kato, lead Jef to go to the cops and it brings the investigation to the hotel [note]It should also be noted that Vinken’s part of the investigation completely leaves out anything which would lead the feds to poke their nose around the motocross guys. Especially in terms of trying to find a dealer of XTC.[/note]

Commentary

It began with the deleted footage, the no love loss, and also the hidden horse thing, but with Vinken destroying and discarding evidence for the sake of the hotel, he isn’t helping things. Granted, part of the reason is a murder investigation would ruin the hotel’s opening, and him getting the money back from the loan he gave Melanie. But with that thought comes the question of whether Kato was murdered there on purpose? It should be noted that Leon lives in that hotel, making it a perfect spot to frame him. Yet, he just doesn’t seem like the type.

However, what perhaps is more complexing is that the eyelash which was left on Kato’s body was that of a woman. Now, there aren’t a lot of women on this show, introduced currently anyway, who seem to have anything against Kato. The majority are family and the ones who aren’t are either her friend Ines or police. Leading to the idea that either the biker was female, and maybe Kato swings that way[note]It should be noted Sophia is a bit into the risqué, at least when it comes to photography and while it doesn’t seem she posted her artistic nudes online, social media could be a factor. Maybe some guy saw them, tracked her down, and his obsession with her beauty, and her denial of him, led to her death?[/note], or Sophia was involved.

Subplot 1: The Stolen Cashbox (Luc)

As treasurer for the local motocross track, Luc has a very important job when it comes to the local economy. Yet, due to his drinking problem, he does make mistakes. This week’s mistake though is to the tune of 8,000 euro missing. Of which he is pinning some kid who lost to Leon in a race as the culprit but he has no proof.

Commentary

Being that motocross is such a huge thing in the area, it makes you wonder if Kato suffered because of her dad being the one who handles the money and her then boyfriend being a top player?

Subplot 2: What’s In The Trunk? (Ines)

After being stood up for a date, Ines travels back home and while on a ferry which helps folks cross a river. On said ferry, a man on a bike, who looks like the guy from the CCTV footage in episode 2, puts something in her trunk and drives away.

Commentary

A body was not put in Ines’ trunk but it was something which led to a thud sound. Leading you to wonder is this planted evidence, evidence which may help the case, or what? Could it be the murder weapon? We still have no clue what that thing is, and then comes the question if that cycler is, in fact, the same person or not? Also, how do they know Ines and can they see Kato?
