Recap

Reinventing Coach Steve: Steve, Antoni, Jonathan, Karamo, Tan, Bobby, Jay

The Fab Five are called in by Jay to help Coach Steve get his job back by giving him a make better. One that makes it look like he bathes, grooms, and doesn’t wear the same outside day in an day out. Leading to a better looking Coach Steve than we’ve seen this entire series.

Question(s) Left Unanswered
  1. Is there a famous dating coach that can help Steve find a special lady?

Disclosure – The Movie Turned Musical: Jessi, Gina, Matthew, Ali, Missy, Nick, Andrew, Mr. Lizer, Lola, Mona, Lars

The cast of Disclosure.

Being that Mr. Lizer is a misogynist who has a boss who only cares about retiring in less than a week, he is allowed to adapt the movie Disclosure into a musical. One that would have Missy, as Demi Moore, simulate giving Nick, as Michael Douglas, fellatio, and push the idea that men deal with sexual harassment too. Leading to so many issues which range from racism, in the form of stereotypical roles for Ali and Gina, to sexism, in Jessi’s part, and then Matthew upset that Mr. Lizer doesn’t cast him as lead due to knowing he is gay.

However, while those four try to derail the production, Lola and Mr. Lizer press forward, and create many uncomfortable moments. But, while the musical is raising a lot of eyebrows, it is also pushing Missy out of her comfort zone and leading to her embracing her sexuality. Specifically being dominating, wanting to kiss, maybe more, unlike before.

Leading to the introduction of Mona, a new hormone monster. Who tries to influence Missy into having a moment with Lars, but he seems only to like Missy in overalls and when she is shown as smart, but not aggressive. So Nick seemingly will get to experience the integration of Mirror Missy and regular Missy as she embraces her teen years – much to Andrew’s dismay.

Question(s) Left Unanswered
  1. Is it weird that Missy could talk about not being ready yet despite all the masturbation and fantasies she has, at least with other girls, and Jay to a point, been open about?

The Return of The Steve: Steve, Mr. Lizer, Lola, Jessi, Nick, Andrew, Missy, Mona, Connie

Just before the curtain rises on the Disclosure musical, Lola’s accusation of an inappropriate relationship, that Jessi helps her understand using Pretty Little Liars, is revealed. Leading to Mr. Lizer being fired and Steve, in his triumphant return, defending the school against Mr. Lizer saying it sucks. With that, and because she is about to retire, Steve is offered Mr. Lizer’s job but instead just wants his old job – which pays less. A proposal fine by the principal, so all is back to normal.

Missy and Nick making out.

Well, minus Missy and Nick making out, with Mona and Connie celebrating in the back, and Mona plotting Nick being fingered. Oh, and Andrew sees Nick and Missy make out and feels betrayed. I wonder what he’ll do with said feelings? Maybe go after Jessi?

Touching Upon How Gay Actors Can Have A Difficult Time Being Cast In Heterosexual Roles

It has been an issue for the longest that cis and hetero people playing trans and LGBT roles get awarded for their performances for various reasons. Be it in the case of Dallas Buyers Club or The Danish Girl. Now, as with most social issues that affect a specific race or sexuality, Big Mouth doesn’t necessarily deep dive but does acknowledge. Perhaps, like Matthew’s storyline, to flesh things out in later seasons, or just to note a problem out of obligation? Who knows?

All that we can be sure of is that while Matthew’s storyline has drifted towards the background in the latter half of the season, it doesn’t mean he is now invisible.

Mona

While Connie and Maury are lovely, it wouldn’t make sense for two hormone monsters to be in charge of all these kids with varying personalities. So the introduction of Mona, someone with an accent, who is almost like a mixture of Connie and Maury, should be interesting. Especially since we haven’t seen a whole lot of conflict between hormone monsters even though they all, well except Connie, have kids with their own selfish desires.

Coach Steve Is Back!

Coach Steve with the Fab Five.

To keep the character fresh in our minds, Coach Steve has had the most random parts to play. All of which we were forewarned about in the beginning, but the gag got kind of old fast. So now with him back to his old job, here is to things being normal, well as normal as Coach Steve can allow, again!
