I Need An Adult: Tanis, Suishi

With his family in hiding, and it being clear he cannot do everything, Tanis decides to seek out his childhood tutor to help. However, with him getting lost before, he realizes he needs one of his siblings to come along. Leading to Snow to, naturally, want to go but it gets decided Suishi will be the one.

Something which comes in handy for she helps Tanis keep from being scammed, robbed, and when meeting the tutor, it helps him deal with how she felt about him. For while he sees her as a trustable adult, she looks at him as the one who drove her nuts and to feel inadequate. After all, being a highly educated tutor who has nothing to teach an 8-year-old, that could lead someone with too much ego to have some problems.

So, with Tanis talking about Suishi being genetically modified, she finds a reprieve in thinking Tanis is too. Then, to make matters worse, she talks about Tanis and his family turning themselves in. Something which leads Suishi to have enough, threaten the safety of the tutor’s friend and note to Tanis this was all a lesson she needed him to have.

Commentary

Suishi noting that Tanis is just a kid.

It seems that, in the absence of parents, Tanis’ siblings are going to teach him what they know and try to make him a better caregiver. The first lesson: He might be book smart but he is people stupid. Hence why Suishi let Tanis flirt with danger just enough to be nipped by it. Just so he could be able to identify a scammer, a thief, and see that someone like his former tutor are more than how he perceived them.

What she is trying to present is street smarts and just maybe, helping him to get a taste of her powers. That is, to be able to read people, and their intentions, and handle them accordingly.

The Girl From Before: Jin, Tanis, Suishi

Tanis runs into that girl from the last episode and she is rather friendly. Genuine according to Suishi, and she gives Tanis her number. Meaning Jin may have just become Tanis’ first friend, and likely will become his first crush.

Commentary

Oh, it is going to be interesting when Jin meets Tanis’ family. Though with him lying about his name, calling himself Phineas, it does make you wonder if he’ll hide his family out of shame or for their safety? I mean, with Snow and Suishi, that isn’t as big of a problem, but his other two sisters clearly aren’t normal. So how he will handle them is a good question to ask. Much less, how they both will react to Tanis trying to hide them.

Question(s) Left Unanswered

Tanis making note of Suishi's powers.

  1. Did the genetic modifications begin before they were born, during the pregnancy or incubation period, or mostly after they were born?
  2. How did Suishi gain such control over her powers?

Highlights

  1. Tanis getting some life lessons courtesy of Suishi.

Low Points

  1. I got to admit, this show is a bit boring. It presents no real threats, no sort of goals, and while the characters are likable, they are by no means remarkable.
